Most players want to play in the Champions League. Coupled with the lovely wages and being a Star again in his new league it's looking pretty nice for Wesley.

The Times & The Liverpool Echo are both reporting that we'll increase our initial offer for Coutinho and this move will go through before the end of the week. Looks to be a very skillful and quick player, I remember him being very highly rated a few years ago but for whatever reason it seems his development has stalled and he's seen his opportunities at Inter limited. He's certainly got a lot of ability to work with though and still only 20 years old. Can play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder.

£17m is a lot for Zaha and I doubt United have bid that much.

But a player isn't any worse because he plays in the championship, he may be less proven but he will still have the same technical ability, strength, pace etc as he would if he played for Wigan or Reading.

I agree to a certain point. If he's been tested in the Premier league and shown ability then you would take the gamble.

Any amount near or around that much for a young player that's only ever played at championship level is a massive gamble. The gap between PL and Championship quality is massive.

If Arsenal were genuinely going to spend that on Zaha i'm dumbfounded that they can't find an established player for the same price with less risk.

Zaha: P27, Scored 5, Assists 4

Ince: P25, Scored 13, Assists 10

17m for Zaha?

You're comparing different types of players, playing in different systems, and having different roles in their teams. Ince is much more of a finisher, wide forward of a front three, whereas Zaha plays right through the midfield.

Having said that £17m for Zaha is too much. I doubt United would come close to offering that much.

He has 2.5 X the assists from a wing as opposed to a wide position.

The stats just don't add up, even though Zaha is more technically talented.

Assists are a rubbish stat, I'd wager the majority of Ince's come from a wide forward position. Not the wing.
