It's hard to sign top line talent when you don't play CL.
Perhaps it's harder to sign a "name" player but to sign top end talent is doable. Sturridge and Coutinho are two fine examples of really talented players that are available. We just need a really good summer window. We havent had a raging success of a window in god knows how long.

But if he wants to leave, and is prepared to do anything to get that move Liverpool have 0 power.
Can you expand on that.

Suarez is under contract until 2017. If we reject every bid for him, even if it is 600 million dollars. Then it is actually IMPOSSIBLE for Suarez to move on. So looks like we actually have 100% of the power actually.

Just saying.

He can buy his own contract out.

Just saying.

If a club is willing to pay big money for Suarez, they can give a lump sum to him as a sign on fee and then he can use it to buy out his contract. From what I've been reading about the mythical Yaya leaving stories you have to be over 28 yrs old to buy out your contract though.

And not have signed a contract for three years?

The problem is that if he wants to move theres not a whole lot Liverpool can do, theres not much point keeping a player at a club who doesn't want to be there.

Like Tevez? Granted, we don't have unlimited funds to not give a shit, but...

I seriously doubt Suarez would be in any way pissed off enough with the club to not be professional...

Can Liverpool really afford to do what we did with Tevez?

Went from a £40m player to a £20m player in the space if a few months and will probably leave for nothing.

Well the difference is (atm), Suarez has no ill-will with Liverpool, whereas Tevez wanted out. Suarez is more along the line of Fabregas as it stands IMO. What needs to be weighed into the equation is will Suarez being kept and possibly leading to CL football outweigh any potential loss in trade value? And IF we qualify for CL with him, does this become a moot point as he wants to stay regardless?

With an upcoming World Cup, there is no way Suarez would not be professional and play...

I think Arsenal kept Fabregas on to their detriment. His performances suffered because he wanted to be elsewhere, and he ended up leaving on the cheap the following year. And in that year it was a bit of a sideshow where the captain and best player clearly wanted to be elsewhere.

Like I've said a few times, it depends on if and how much he really wants out. Very few examples of clubs actually benefiting by forcing players to stay against their will. It might be the Suarez isn't in that boat and he's happy to stay. But if he does want a move, and is prepared to force it through a move is what he'll get and there's not a lot Liverpool can do about it.
