Well we do need some central mids....

Rooney in centre mid > Mikel in centre mid

Yes, but he has been on the decline ever since his 34 goals in 2009/10 in which he was close to player of the year.
he's been playing deeper and he's been injured
he also netted 34 in the 11/12 season

Can see him going to Bayern anyway, that's the team he apparently wants to go to.

We should just use the money to strengthen key areas in our squad, the wings and midfield.

We don't need to sell Rooney to buy though. The money is available already.

Why would Bayern want him? They've apparently got Gotze and Lew coming in, what use do they have for a 27 year-old who's worse than both.

Yes but he wants to go, so we should sell him while we can still get a good deal.

Like I've said, he is as good as gone. United are just trying to play down the rumours by saying 'he is not for sale'.

Think he'd be a good fit at Bayern. If Pep's going to continue to play the false 9 system he's going to need a striker with excellent touch who's capable of dropping back and getting involved in the link up play. Rooney ticks a lot of boxes, and I don't buy that he's in decline. Whenever he's been used as the main striker in recent years he's put 30+ goals away a season, unfortunately for him he's often been asked to sacrifice his own game and play from midfield or wide left. Wouldn't surprise me if this (plus the rumours of United's interest in Lewandowski) was a factor in his decision to look elsewhere to be honest. Chelsea would be a good move for him too and he'd be a hell of a lot cheaper than Falcao or Cavani.

there is no market for shrek. who wants a player that every couple of months wants out of the club, smokes like a chimney, has a massive attitude problem, would cost a ton and weights it too? they guy is good, but no one's going to pay the fee plus his ridiculous wages when there are better alternatives.

he's a prat who demanded a transfer when he wanted better players, and now the player that has come in is better than him and he wants out. what a w***er.

I think that where Gotze will play though he may start start on a wing but long term pep will try to turn him into a false 9. He has everything you need to play there but needs to work on his finishing, once he does that then look out!
