Spurs definitely need a decent striker to take the scoring pressure off Bale. David Villa perhaps? Reports in Brazil and Spain that Neymar & Santos have agreed a deal with Barcelona so Villa will no doubt see his playing time cut even further. Damiao would also be a good buy as would Benteke although for the money Aston Villa are likely to want for him you'd want to see him perform this well for another season to prove it wasn't a flash in the pan (see Papiss-Cisse, Carroll etc).

As for Williams, we were linked with him but £10m for a 29 year old centre back represented too much of a risk given the other options available. No matter how good he's been this season it's a lot of money for a CB who's probably only got another 2 or 3 years at the top of his game.

To even compare Benteke to Carroll is absolutely ****ing ridiculous and shows a lack of knowledge of the player. Benteke is far more talented than Carroll and has an all around game and qualities Carroll could only dream of having. Only a Liverpool supporter could produce such a comparison.

Edit: Santos are saying they have accepted bids from 2 clubs (Madrid and Barcelona) for Neymar, and he has to choose one. You'd think that will be Barça but its interesting that Madrid matched the offer, to me it shows they're looking to spend big money on a marquee attacker this summer. If they miss out on Neymar would Bale be the next target?

It's official that Santos have accepted both Barca and Real's proposal.

Here are some details on the James Rodriguez money:

Porto will receive 55m Euro of the 70m Euro.
3.5m Euro = Sporting
8.5m Euro = James' third party owner
3m Euro = Gestifute (Mendes' agency, commissions for both)
55m Euro = Porto

I'm not saying that, I'm saying you'd want to see him reproduce this scoring form for longer before commiting the £20m+ that I'm sure Villa would be asking for him. Otherwise you would be risking making the same mistake we did with Carroll who had 1 great season and we bought the hype. Cisse at Newcastle is another example as he has struggled to replicate the scoring form he showed in his first season after signing for what was a fairly significant fee for a club with Newcastle's budget. The fact is before Villa, Benteke's only good season in terms of scoring was a 16 goal haul in 32 games in the Belgian league for Genk. I rate him as a player but unless I was Damien Comolli I'd want to see him perform for another season before spending big money on him.

again though.... he's a different player to Carroll (and Cisse) and has much more going for him, and therefore much less risk.
and Carroll had a good half a season.....
Benteke can dribble, has two feet, has speed, power/stregth, good in the air I don't see the risk in paying between 15 and 20 for him. Just over 20 would be a risk but not an astronomical one.

they would have to sell to get both.
neymar fits barca
no they wouldn't. real get their money from.... well put it this way, they will sell because they won't be able to satisfy a large number of attackers - but if Real's history is anything to go by then they have as much money as they need. always.

And if Bale decides to stay?

Very disappointed about Moutinho to be honest, would love to have signed him.

I think we'll sign Villa and/or Benteke.

Player I'd love this window would be Thiago of Barca, looks off to Utd.

I don't know why people are rubbishing Benteke (Not directed at you ADL9798).

19 Goals for a team that barely dodged relegation is nothing to be sneezed at.

Everyone keeps banging on about these "World class players" that need to be brought, but its the depth of the squad that will make Arsenal better. Blowing 60 million on two players isn't going to win Arsenal the league.

Arshavin, Bendtner, Squid, Chamahk, Santos, Park, Djourou, Diaby and Denilson, are all players that need to be replaced. Arsenal could do a lot worse than shopping within the Premier league this season for players to improve the squad.

Papadopoulos looks like an absolute nutcase. Skip to 1 min in this video to see his reaction to losing 3-1 to Borussia Monchengladbach in the cup during the 2011/12 season.

I love him already.
