Review The Umpire 'Kimmi' Schmitt

Anyone ever watch Hayden Kennedy's explanation of the week's controversial decisions? Don't bother. The first one was the Saints McCartin diving in and taking out Tiger Nick Vsalutin's (sp?) legs and getting a free for high contact. (a) it's doubtful the contact was high and (b) it's a classic example of the LT rule.

Kennedy's response: paying a free to the tiger would have been "the most correct one". FFS. He's saying the decision made by the three blind mice was correct but the other one would have been more correct.

No wonder the umpiring is hopelessly inconsistent.

Watching a bit of the saints v tigers game during a break in our game and there was a blatant hands in the back not paid. Danny Frawley said this rule is no longer observed and the umpires need to crack down.

Let's see who the first North player is to have a hands in the back paid against him this week.

Leigh Matthews observed in another game that the easiest decision to pay is "push in the back" but for some reason the umpires rarely pay it. Hear! Hear! Lethal. In the olden days the back was sacrosanct (or sancro-sact for those who prefer this alternative).

We've got Kimmi again this week!

How do we many to pick up these deadbeat umps? Does the AFL inflict them on us in particular, or does every club have a deadbeat ump allocated to it?

I'm tipping that if we play the Dogs in a final the AFL will allocate Kimmi and Bulldog Pannell, just to get even with us for......well just about everything from winning the 96 Gold Cup, to not going to the Coast, to LT's various antics, to resting our players last year and forcing the AFL to introduce a bye.

I agree that the umpires were far from the problem last night. But if the AFL are really serious about equalisation then we shouldn't be copping this ridiculous arsehat every week.

Did Ben Brown sleep with all 3 of the umpires wives/girlfriends at once?

He was grabbed, pushed and chopped all night and not one free kick, while all three were cupping Pattons balls all night.

Yes Patton got a free in the goalsquare in the last quarter for a momentary hand grab. Fair enough, it was there. Every time Brownie went for the ball he was absolutely mauled and got no protection at all.

Not that it mattered.:(

Not joking but if that Patton free was paid Brown was entitled to 20+ over the night.

Laughable. But don't dare question their untouchable 'integrity'.

TBH, I was more bemused by Daw not getting a free for a fairly blatant arm chop during his massive marking attempt. Lobb was half wrapped around Daw's lower bicep.

Was it just me tonight or did the rule were you run past the ball and crash the body at a centre bounce just thrown out tonight.

Mumford was just taking Goldys run at the ball all night and didn't get called for it once.
No you weren't to only one to notice it. Also the shoving in the back to move goldy was even questioned by the moronic commentators.

yep, and this morning gameday highlighted that attempt at the mark, saying if he hung onto it, it would have been better than his other one. no mention of the arm chop from one side, and the hold on the other.....

Or when they were replaying the faux injury to lobb and it shows brown getting repeatedly whacked by davis to slow him down.

Interesting analysis of free kicks from every game since 1999: "It turns out that the biggest effect on net free kicks, on average, comes from being the West Coast Eagles."

That's a great site thanks for sharing. It seems the next biggest effect on free kicks is whether or not you are Joel Selwood.
