An opposition supporter came on to troll and I let them know what I thought of them.

I messaged with a mod and they’re just annoyed by the constant reporting that they have to deal with.

It’s ok, we’ll just use this one.
who is reporting stuff in that thread?

They're literally the only nuclear nation to threaten the use of nuclear weapons in the last... 40 years? 50 years? Since the Cuban missile crisis, perhaps?

And they've done it repeatedly.

This pedestal you put Russia on has no basis in reality.
An Israeli minister threatened to nuke Gaza 12 months ago. Nixon threatened to nuke Hanoi. The US put nukes in Turkey which led to the Cuban missile crisis.

Did anyone else see that Israel said that now they have agreed to a ceasefire with Lebanon, they’re going to focus on Iran?

Iran has been threatening to strike Israel tbf, but Iran has a habit of making threats and not following through, similar to the US they tend to fight by proxy.
As soon as the fighting stops Netanyahu goes on trial and off to jail. He will be desperate to keep killing people

I disagree with your assessment of the situation.

It's not a case of "sacrificing themselves for Kyiv".

Any country in the world these days that used nuclear weapons in an offensive / first strike manner like what is being hypothesised here in regards to Russia nuking Ukraine would be met with swift and total destruction by a coalition of essentially all major powers.

For my money, there's no chance that the other nuclear powers like the EU/UK/US or even China/India/Israel would allow the use of nuclear weapons to go unpunished. Such use of nuclear weapons would be the single most destablising action to the status-quo of the geopolitical stage in modern history - more than 9/11, more than Hiroshima/Nagasaki, and more than the collapse of the Soviet Union to name just a few comparisons.

To let it go unchecked would be acquiescing the world to the perpetrator.

For what it's worth, I do not think Russia is dumb enough to use nuclear weapons. Not over Ukraine. They know that doing so would be signing their own death warrant, and to use your terminology; they aren't about to sacrifice themselves over Kyiv.
How would the total destruction happen? I don't think countries would embrace nuclear Armageddon too readily.

Like I said in the post you're quoting, this is all somewhat moot because I don't believe Russia is stupid enough to use nuclear weapons.

However, in the hypothetical situation where they did, it would unite the entire world against them in an instant. You'd see a coalition of forces stand against them unlike any we've ever seen.
