Have been playing a bit the last couple of days on Pokerstars and have seen two royal flushes today alone (for others), guess if you play enough it will happen.

Bubbled out of a tournament yesterday after flopping a straight, shoved, other bloke has top pair, completes a full house on the turn and river. Maybe it's time for a change...

That's because PokerStars is rigged. I've never believed it until now, but I've had three absolutely shocking beats that you wouldn't see anywhere else today on there.

Maybe if you haven't deposited for x days it does it to you? I don't know, but I'm getting out now.

just out of curiousity...who is it rigged for? I mean, if it's rigged so that you lose, someone has to profit. Who?

shaundeeb :p

But no, it's rigged for PokerStars to extract as much money out of you as possible. So, it's rigged for PokerStars I suppose.

Take your 55 vs. K5 hand. You realise Stars makes as much money regardless of who wins the hand? The rake is exactly the same.

Pokerstars doesn't throw out anymore bad beats than any other poker site.

In fact, in my experience, Pokerstars doesn't throw out anymore bad beat/sick hands as live poker. Granted my live poker experience is one Casino night and the rest in a garage with mates, though.

MDC is right.....for every person getting sucked out on there is someone sucking out on someone, obviously. People just tend to notice when they're on the receiving end I think.

Whilst on this rotten run I would like to declare a small war on pocket pairs after I make trips on the flop with A kicker and they make a set on the turn... my fault for letting them see that card I guess

Good players will more often than not get all their chips in when they're in front. So unless you actually win the tournie, you will ultimately be knocked out due to a suckout/bad beat.

It's natural to complain, and I do it just as much as anyone else, but players saying it is 'riggered' are probably playing out of their bankroll. Thus it seems that the bad beats are occuring to force us to deposit more onto the site, when in actual fact a bad beat, or even several should not put us in a situation where we need to deposit again.

This applies to me, If I have $100 bankroll, I'll still stake 33% of it on a tournie, so yeah the bad beats hurt more than if I had a $3k bankroll playing $33 tournies. (I once read the appropriate bankroll for tournies was 50/100 buy-ins...?)

Now if we are talking about cash games, again a good bankroll will outweigh a bad beat here and there - however plenty of bad beats occur live, even in my limited experience.

Now wasn't that a waste of a read:cool:

Very first hand of a six man single table SNG. Blinds 20/40. I have 88 in the SB. 3 limpers so I raise to $120. BB and cutoff call. Flop is 8QT rainbow. I check, BB bets $200 and cutoff folds. I raise to $500 and BB moves all in. I quickly call thinking I'm likely to be up against AQ and discover BB with TT. Turn and river both Jacks so I get bundled out of a tourney first hand holding a full house.

Aint poker grand?

Yeah.

I was just angry :p

But, if you have money in your account, you're going to play with that money, yeah? If you don't have money in your account, you're going to deposit more, and then play with that money. Bleh, I don't know what I'm trying to say.

3 times is far too many in a day though, so I've withdrawn all of the funds and I'm going on a long holiday from there.

And that's also not strictly true.

I believe that when you're playing cash games, they make 2/3 people have absolute monsters occasionally, to extract as much rake as possible.

But hey, maybe I'm just a conspiracy theorist. I've seen far more AA vs. KK vs. QQ in cash games than I have in tournament play though.....

You don't think absolute monster hands would just happen by chance? My first time at the Casino in the first few hands three guys were in pre flop

66 vs 10 10 vs KK

Flop comes 6 X 10

It just happens in poker.

Pokerstars would be pulling in an insane amount of money. I don't think adding a tiny bit on the occasional pot would actually be worth it to them.

Let me rant dude! :p

But nah, it's probably not rigged, but too much funny shit happens on there for my liking. Granted, it also happens on Full Tilt Poker, but it happens less (in my experiences).

I just think it's sad when you get to a stage where you know the exact card that someone needs to beat you, will come. But yeah, we dont complain when we run good.

Still, I think having a break is wise, although I'll probably be back to it sooner than I want :p, can't help it!

I don't believe that online poker is rigged, but some days I wonder about the iPoker network.

Amazing how many times the flop is a good one for the first person to go all in. I'm not talking about good hands either, I've seen plenty when some tool goes all in with something like T3os and flops two pair to blow away somebody else with a real starting hand.

Haha having a break is the best thing you can do....I don't think anyone makes a profit when they're playing poker annoyed at the game.

I've gotta say, there has been many times when there has been a huge amount of action pre-flop and in the end about 3 players get all their chips in and show hands like JJ, AK, AQ, KK and the like, and as the board comes up I see that my folded 8 2 off suit would've make two pair on the river and won the pot.

If you're a decent player you'll be ahead when all your chips go in most of the time and you won't leave yourself much scope to be a 'lucky' player.

Haha yeah.

I keep telling myself 'the long run'.

I've had a few good wins, but I keep bubbling tournaments with bad beats recently :p. Hence the reason I'm ****ed off. Hey, that's poker though, and as much as we hate it at times, we all love it.

Yeah, you can get all your chips in, like I just did in the daily $50K. All in with AK, hit both cards for two pair and got blown away by somebody who called with QJ and made the straight. QJ? FFS.

**** ME. Honestly. I've lost $50 in the last 2 days playing $3 SnG's thanks to ****ing horrible bad beats such as that one.

PS: I'm obviously Banker987

Another donkathon, another early exit. A round of raising saw 3 of us all in, me with AK v KK v TJ. Put them in order of strongest to weakest and then reverse it for the result:

KK - 2 pair kings and tens.
AK - straight T to A.
TJ - full house tens full of jacks.

At least its not a lot of time I'm wasting.

EDIT
^^^^^^^^^^^
All in on the flop would probably have avoided your situation Kangas Div. It would also be necessary to discourage anybody holding one high spade from hanging in to out flush you. No guts no glory.

Try posting some HH's D_M.

It would be interesting to see positions, stack sizes, who raised, who re-raised, who called etc.

Banker987 - what's with the tiny raise on the turn?
Raise the flop and see where you are.

Yeah, ok PG. I was a bit shy about putting up the last one because it was such a low entry tourney. My balance was under $1 and I hate topping up my account and well, you know, a game is a game. :o

On iPoker I can't post the HH so easily because I don't want to mess about with setting up a host site for the images and there doesn't seem to be a way of getting a text equivalent.

Be gentle on me.

Dude, do not let that worry you or stop you from posting whatever you want.

I'm sure your poker roll is healthier than Mark Harvey's job security :)

He'll be given this season and until round 10 next year, minimum.
Wallace would be a more apt candidate.

Just delete the top two rows of text to hide what you're playing, D_M, too late now. ;)

On to your hand, being so early in the tournament I don't mind just seeing a flop here. Especially going on the assumption that you're probably a better player than the people at these levels. Why roll the dice early when you can beat them with good play later on?
