RE: crap at work. Nobody bothers giving me any because they don't get a bite. In Vic the biggest insult they think they can throw at me is that I follow an interstate team. I have a response for this also and it involves Fitzroy.

Well we have sunk to the bottom of the ladder so the positive is the only way is up from now on.

With the demise of another Brisbane based professional team today it surely must sink in to the AFL's hierarchy that it is a very hard job maintains a competitive team based from Brisbane.

The least they should do is to finance the Springfield base.

It seems a long time ago since we were competitive and received a fair deal in the allocation of fixtures.

The loss of the Lions to the AFL would be catastrophic especially when television revenues would decline and soccer would capitalize on the demise of AFL in Brisbane.

ARL have never been seen in Adelaide since the demise of the Rams - a pretty similar situation to the Lions position in the sports hierarchy in Brisbane.

Go Lions - keep the thin maroon blue and gold line solid in Brisbane.

The club is fast becoming irrelevant in Melbourne - thank god for Carlton etc - and the mystery of 'why do you barrack for that lot ? ' can only be answered with the word Fitzroy. In fact Fitzroy - home of all things funky and arty - is more relevant .. and I suspect attendances at our few live appearances will be GWS-esque. We have become a ghost club - poorly constructed and sparsely populated and ( post-JB ) bland and a little embarrassing. Rocky needs help and I'm not seeing any soon.

Indeed - but it's not what you crave as a footy supporter. But as we are now just theatre goers or no-show couch viewers we have become irrelevant. Not happy with that outcome - I'm more tribal but we appear close to extinction. And the game now resembles rugby union with rolling mauls and inexplicable umpiring. I used to love taking o/s sports-minded friends and work colleagues to the footy because I KNEW that they would love it ( confused and euphoric ) lly but now it's such a mess they actually get bored .. try explaining interchange and deliberate OOB. We are losing our culture to avarice. End of rant.
