Gee some posters who were in full voice during the first quarter last weekend have gone missing since.

It is almost like some posters only come here to bitch.

The posters you are talking about were long gone after the final siren on Saturday night. The best bit is how they deny it but the proof is in the pudding. It kinda sucks here without them though because they are the quality posters. ;)

I think some people in life are only happy if they have something to bitch about. Unfortunately these people tend to be the same ones who complain when they are called out about their constant negatively that the rest of us are simply sheep who are being blind to reality.

Even if they do say so themselves.

Some people are seeking validation for their hatred of Vossy as a coach stemming from the Fev trade.

I'll admit, at the end of 2008 when they announced Vossy as the coach at the Club Champion Dinner my immediate reaction was "NO!". He had no experience as a coach and I was pretty certain a stuff-up was on the cards.

However, he's had his stuff-up now, plus he now has support in Mark Harvey, so I'm willing to forgive and forget. In fact, one could say that the Fev saga was a good thing, as it prompted a review and clean out of a few characters that we didn't need around the Club.

The bit that I can't stand is that they only come and bitch when something is going disastrously wrong. If you are going to whine and bitch and me all negative and whatnot, at least do it consistently, rather than barking from behind the fence.

Dislike. I'd much rather weeks of no carping back and forth.

Yeah, and i've got to say that I've got no patience for someone who only uses this board to go off their heads after a loss. Just makes it shitty for the rest of us.

Especially when the go missing the second the team starts to turn it around and then magically reappear the next time we hit a bad patch. I just can't respect "supporters" who do that under the banner of "everyone being entitled to an opinion". By and large they are also the same people who want to call people who look for positives "deluded sheep" while also claiming the right to cry "censorship" when someone has the temerity to take umbrance at the insult.

I personally only feel the desire to respect and engage with the posters who are there to suffer the defeats AND revel in the glories. That is what makes this place a community.

Now we just have to deal with the problem of people posting foolishly optimistic thoughts. We need a balance after all .

The negative posters might have to start looking for another club to "support", because otherwise they look like they'll be out of a job soon. Then, when we are winning finals next September, they can call for the sacking of their new found club's coaching staff.

If we have a bad quarter against Port on the weekend, they'll be back.

Expect posts like 'and earlier in the week, some on here were ridiculing us for saying Voss is inept as a coach. Where are they now??'

This point of view caught my attention due to the fact that I almost do the opposite of what is being inferred in this quote. I often feel more inspired to discuss the positive aspects of our play and applaud than to digress and throw the baby out with the bath water after an insipid performance hence this is my debut in the Vent Thread. I sometimes think this is more appropriate for me than an alarmist "Sack Vossy" call time and time again even if I do analysis the game closely and feel frustrated with outcomes. I like to think I am not a fair weather supporter but makes me wonder. Any thoughts?

God I think we almost all would have vented our hearts out if the 1st quarter form had continued for the rest of the match. I know I was feeling absolutely despondent at quarter time.

How we managed to turn that completely around is still hard to fathom. It has given everyone great hope - but that could be easily dashed (for some) by an unexpected loss in the last two weeks.

My issue is more with the people who literally vanish the second the landscape changes from their particular worldview. There was a poster who posted 9 times in an hour in the match thread the other day, made some outlandishly dramatic statements and literally bolted like Australia's premier sprinting horse once the match turned around.

If you are a poster who only feels the need to post when you are feeling good then that is a bit different than someone who openly puts themselves out there in match thread and then disappears when their calls have been proven wrong.

It's also fine if someone only feels the need to post online when they are gutted after a loss, as long as they realise it is a supporters forum and that they will not be warmly welcomed unless they either...

a) Are constructive in their criticism; or
b) Balance out the negativity with some positivity; or
c) Restrict their ranting to this venting thread.

All just my opinion of course.

Who wasn't!

The difference is that you (based on my impressions of you as a poster) wouldn't have vanished without a trace once the game turned around.

Yes I would have vented had we continued on with how the 1st qtr played out. As I looked in the Match day thread I was going to mention in there that there seemed to be posters who I only ever see with the negative comments and not much else but feared of being set upon. I could completely understand some comments at qtr time but fair play to Voss & the team they turned it around, unlike some of the posters here.
