I don't have any recent recollection of Bewick being played down back.

Seems to be largely played as a wing, half forward or leading forward pocket to me. Which suits him well.

Like many other relatively inexperienced players, he needs to work hard on trying to impact games consistently. Some people seem to imply that every time a player has a quiet game, it was a coaching error. I don't agree.

EDIT: Whoops, thought I was in the team selection thread.

Dropping PattyK & Lester while MsGrath & Polkinghorne still get a game. FFS, what gives? Patty starred through the NAB, was in the best in the round 1 embarrassment - so he gets 15 minutes as the sub, then dropped the next week. This is a young player that has the potential to be a game breaker. He makes things happen. Surely you jest.

Lester was played as out of position as anyone I have ever seen, yet he busted his guts & broke as even as his physique allowed him. Was not his fault we lost.

I do not rate Polkinghorne. Never have , never will. He is not good enough to be in a finals team anywhere, let alone a flag chance. On top of 1 goal out of his arse - and I was there - and half a dozen cameos each week he is untouchable.

I have long been a fan of Ash but he is nothing but a liability this year.

This week, agin a team as young as ours, is the perfect opportunity to show that games are given to those that earn them, but no, let's stick with the old cabal. Bullshit.

Have always taken the Patty homesick talk with a grain of salt, but if this is the straw that breaks the camel's back, I have no issue with him walking. So disappointed.

Well said. I have to agree with pretty well much everything you said bar the last notion about PattyK leaving, would be gutted. I was so happy to see his marked improvement to move into the midfield and to contribute.

The reality is that we are a bottom tier team and it should be seen those who can take us to finals and when there win. It's been great to see the likes of 3R's get games but the next group underneath also needs to get that opportunity to take us forward.

After last night my thoughts turned to the Australian Cricket team and their rotation policy and how it bombed. Not to think that we have a rotation policy but we need stability. Stability with players who make an impact. When they cross the white line birth dates to out the window.

Played football all my life and still know into my thirties, watched and followed it passionately as a kid so believe that I have some knowledge of the game.

It just pains me to see blokes get games who are older and not pulling their weight when a bloke who is younger and doing more gets the punt. Must build great confidence!

Meh
I wasn't implying at all, just commenting on what I have noticed. I am in the bush and relying on tele for my perspective as I haven't had an opportunity to get to a game yet so you may see more than I. I just saw him looking up the ground and it makes me spill my beer. I reckon he can be good for 4 shots on song and was following on from others comments about Lestere being played out of position.

Green is definately being put on the ball and I think he is best left alone with others on the list being better placed for that role. Only my opinion and it is what forums like this are about.....

Great post, I hada chat to someone with realtively good contacts in Australian Cricket. He mentioned that the rotation policy would get the arse as a result because Cricketers are different to Rugby players and as soon as you say have a rest to an incumbent he becomes insecure because if his replacement does well, he might not get back in. The same applies to footballers as well - of all ages.

it's probably been covered already, but the selections this week are quite hard to understand.
mcgrath still in after two poor weeks? where is jordan lisle? surely lester and karnezis have blokes in front of them who don't deserve a spot?
voss has to win this game to keep his job.
vent over

In a nutshell the turnovers from kicks missing targets is killing us. Same issue that has kept Richmond out of finals for years. In this era of keepings off, those teams that lack elite kicking players are well behind the pack.
Main offenders are Hanley, McGrath, Bewick and Adcock. I tore my hair out at Etihad last week as forward thrusts were repeatedly thwarted by not hitting targets. Some of our youngsters are shabby as well but I'm prepared to give them time to develop.

Has alot to do with players not leading or body positioning correctly.

Can't believe this thread hasn't had a workout yet tonight.
I have never felt so down after a win.
This side has some serious issues. That was really terrible footy against a pretty average team.
There some really good contributors, but geez some stupid footy.
Hardly inspires confidence to play anyone other than Melbourne and GWS.
That was rubbish.

How poor is this.. Brown won the Ashcroft... Polky had great impact as the sub.... Raines > Ablett and was good on the attack.. Rich stood tall throughout the game.. and on top of all that we WON!

Sack Voss... drop everyone and play the reserves... and wait I... can find some stats that show how terrible our team is I'm sure of it just give me five minutes to cherry pick them to pieces and I'll be right with you.

Oh please lets just enjoy the win.
Couldn't agree more CeeBee
Wrong thread for that.
I actually didn't REALLy enjoy that win.
It threw up more doubts and problems in my mind than thrill of a solitary win.
I have been fairly optimistic after 2 losses but tonight was worse than last week by far.
Our backline has some serious deficiencies at the minute with all of Merrett, Patfull and Golby far, far from their best.

Pretty damn poor if you ask me!

We can all be thankful that the boys got us over the line but this is the 'Vent thread' and against a quality opponent our efforts tonight would have exposed our weaknesses. Happy to take the four points, but our season is 22 rounds long.
