Why don't we have names for our stands at the GABBA?

Even if the Trust won't name a stand, why don't we do it like Essendon do at the Dome, the Bulldogs have the Hawkins wing too..

Would not be many major sporting grounds around as long as the GABBA that don't have something named..

The Sam Sheldon Interchange bench would be a good start in honour of the countless hours spent there.

In all seriousness though.

I would be looking at :

Allan Border
Ian Healy
Leigh Matthews
Michael Voss
Triple Premiership Stand
Snowy Baker

The Matt Tyler concourse runs all around the Gabba, circling the Fixter and Buchanan wings and the Spaanderman and Fevola ends.

The Mitch Clark bus stop. It takes you 3417km away from home to a joke of a club and costs a ridiculous amount of money.

In fact, I reckon James Hawksley's four games last year were no worse than Jed's better games this season.;)
and a mile better than all but 2 or 3 of Sam Sheldon's!

Adcock was terrible tonight. I blew my top when from the restart he ignored players on the lead and kicked it to a 3 Collingwood 1 lions player situation time after time time after timetime after timetime after timetime after timetime after timetime after timetime after timetime after timetime after timtime after after timetime after time

I purchased Jed's Match worn 150th game jumper from the auction website last night. Waste of money perhaps but I put my bid in before the game on Friday....

After losses this year against the Dogs, North and again on Friday against Collingwood, Vossy has come out after the game and said it was unacceptable!!
How many times can he continue to utter the same explanation after losing a game in the first quarter?
If we are still unnaceptable after three such performances and playing like this, how many other unnaceptable games do we need to endure before the Coach concedes he has no solution?
Particularly on the back of such a moral boosting win against Essendon. Such swings in the mental attitude of the players from week to week is made more worrying with no real explanation from the man in charge.

Said form swings are indicative of a young team. I don't think people can yet grasp the concept that our form is not going to be consistent over the season yet.

Having said that yes, he better find a solution soon or it could be curtains. Hurts just to type that :(

What else can Voss say in a press conference that he is contracted to hold by the AFL? "That was acceptable"? Maybe "**** these players are shit. Can't even be arsed trying to save my job, hey?"

Agree and after a quick look at the thesaurus I observe there are at least two for all the remaining rounds he could use…

below par, damaged, disagreeable, displeasing, distasteful, exceptionable, half-baked, ill-favoured, improper, inadmissible, insupportable, lousy*, not up to snuff, objectionable, obnoxious, offensive, reject, repugnant, unappealing, undesirable, uninviting, unpleasant, unsatisfactory, unwanted, unwelcome, won't do

Then again... may be this is all part of a Keep-It-Simple game plan – that we are finding hard to identify?

Whilst our results prove that that we do improve the following game after a heavy defeat, you do have to question whether the senior or 50+ game players are ever really that concerned of losing their spot in the side. Of course dropping a 'name player' may be more detrimental to our side than providing any benefit, but in the longer run, it may mean that those same players take more ownership and accountability of such defeats, which I'd question whether they do or not, Jed Adcock being the prime example this season.

Here's a list of the players omitted following our heavy defeats.

v Adelaide 19pt loss (following 68 pt loss to Dogs) - Omitted: Longer and Cornelius

v Melbourne 28pt win (following 63 pt loss to North) - Omitted: Harwood and McKeever

v West Coast 26pt loss (following 60 pt loss to Sydney) - Omitted: Longer, Paparone and Cornelius

v Fremantle ????????? (following 49 pt loss to Collingwood) - Omitted: ????

At some point, beginning next week, I would personally like Voss to make a statement and prove that such results really are 'unacceptable' by backing it up with some action instead of dropping the usual suspects (you could make the case for certain players from previous seasons too).

For completeness, the other omissions to date this season include:

Ryan Lester v Suns
Pat Karnezis v Suns
Elliot Yeo v North
James Polkinghorne v North
Ryan Harwood v Melbourne
Niall McKeever v Melbourne
Sam Docherty v Sydney
Andrew Raines v Sydney (could also include round 1)
Josh Green v Essendon and Collingwood
Jordan Lisle v Collingwood

Like many of us said at the time, but forcing Hudson to retire was one of the stupidest decisions the club has made in a while considering Leuey's injury record and Longer being in only his second year.

I was thinking the same thing after the game. We were killed in the ruck. Gee we need Longer to step up fast, pitty he has only just turned 20.

Must be just as frustrating for Vossy as well as us. It was unacceptable but he did have the Reserves team on the park on Friday night against the Magpies. Now tell me...what is your solution other than "sack the coach" and hire Neeld? Given the experience profile for our team on Friday night I am amazed we didn't get smashed by 90+

I think it enabled us to try an develop a younger player in his place. It wasn't like we were going to threaten for finals with Hudson filling in for a possibly injured Luey.Thats certainly the way it's turned out anyway.

It probably would have been Hudson vs Martin as well and I can't fault choosing Martin instead.

Plus it also shows how great a move it was to get Hudson in the first place.

Jed.

For gods sake learn a different way to do kick ins or give the ball to someone else. Actually, go back to ressies to practice other options.

Aaaaaaaaarrgghhhhh!!!

Jed's petulance.
How many times have we seen his opponent give off to a teammate in better position or even play-on around him while he sulkily admonishes a teammate for not helping? An opponent beats him and he stands there arguing with his own team while the said opponent takes the opportunity to set up or score while Jed's not watching. Play the ball FFS.
Even when Swan toed that dribbler through on Friday night, it was because after both tangled and fell in the square, Swan got up while Jed lay there thinking he'd stopped a goal.

Not suggesting that we sack the Coach. Just suggesting that for his several hundred thousand dollars a year job he could at least give his Employers (Members) more than vague and bleedingly obvious responses.
Not a solution, but let's look at the fact we played a team of kids on Friday when more mature players lament in the reserves (all of whom have been recruited to the Club or drafted in the last 5 years). With the Season very much still alive up until Friday night was it time to just start building for the future or have we so little faith in those we recruited ourselves that we saw no other option??
