Well, not so much a vent, I guess I just want to tell you guys something that really hit home for me today.

I couldn't cross the story bridge tonight and had to make a half hour detour on foot. Because someone wanted to end their life. And then some moron at the game yelled at the Lions players that they should kill themselves.

According to news reports it apparently was an "unauthorised climber" on the bridge. Apart from that I agree that this season was done and dusted anyway, so lets not get too upset about it. Its what we do in the first few rounds of next year that will really count now, not that I want us to drop off or loose winnable games.

Drummond. Woeful. He let his opponent have so much space and his opponent kicked goals on him so easily. You think he would tighten up after that? But no he didn't.

You can't be a 1 trick pony in the modern game, that laser kick (which hasn't been very laser like for a few weeks now) is great, but it has to be combined with strong defensive efforts or at least keeping within say 5-10m of your direct opponent.

We always seem to get so cut up by small forwards/goal sneaks. I either want one of our own to balance the books or we need a defended that can actually put some pressure on them.

I didn't watch the whole game, but from what I caught:

Drummond, awful. Banfield, awful. Karnezis, awful.

Would be willing to persist with Karny but on that performance Ace offers more.

Beams needs to play. I know it's repeated ad nauseum but the bloke was a rising star nom and was very, very good in our opening two rounds. Just can't crack the side for the life of him. He's not a player we want to lose as he'll be very good, so just play the kid.

Lisle and Wrigs were pretty decent at least!

Polky needs to be on the same 'general soreness' chopping block as Drummond. I honestly don't see what Polky provides that is worth holding a young player out for the rest of the season. I don't care if you're experienced at being mediocre. I want to see a young kid get some experience so he can be decent on day.

What the hell is Hanley doing at FB taking the kick ins? The idiot that thought Yeo was a like for like replacement for Maguire no doubt thought this was a great idea.

Who trains our kicks in strat? Fire that douche because he's been crap all year and it's not getting any better. As far as I can tell the plan is 1. Look for an easy player inside 50 who is open. If none, then 2. kick to a contest where we are outnumbered but have a ruckman willing to get smashed by 3 opposition players and lose possession anyway.

I have to ask why the 3 guys who were omitted were the the emergencies. You're not good enough to play but no one else was closer to getting a game than you?

Banfield. I love the guy but Beams should've been in all night while Banners sat back at home thinking about how he could improve his game.

Did we forget how to lay a tackle? There was so much soft contact or putting a grab on and letting the man get his hands free, you're Queenslanders its not good enough to tackle like girls.. that's for Victorians.

For the umpires... arm over the shoulder in a tackle is a free kick. Even the commentators said "Brisbane are obviously wearing the wrong colours to get a high contact free kick tonight"... when those biased half wits can spot it there is obviously an issue. Also if a Carlton player thrusts his head into Rich's stomach that is not a free kick.

Hawksley got a MASSIVE wrap in from the ressies coach this week. I've never seen such a glowing review of a player, and yet he sits at home while less deserving / more fatigued players (Banfield, Polkinghorn / Yeo, Wrigley) are lining up instead.

What really shits me is that while we lost by 6 goals that was a game we could've and should've won. Some of it was bad luck with snaps on goal, some of it was easy goals getting sprayed. But more than anything it was a lack of effort in patches that let them get easy clearances, easy forward 50 entries and easy marks inside 50. Which all turned into gimmie goals for them. Shame. Shame. Shame.

I don't think that was ever the intention. We didn't really need Maguire, Merrett and Patfull to cover the blues forwards so Yeo came in to give us more run and play off the halfback.

Agree with everything, except that. Wrigley looked very composed at the AFL level, and did the correct thing 95% of the time. He was great!
