Go and watch the last round of 2012 and the first game of 2013. Same clubs 130+ points different in the results - Embarrassing.
Similarly?

Round1 & 2 1991
Round 1: Dees head over to Subi and only kick 2 goals and get done by 79pts
Rnd 2: Dees fall over the line against the Roys by a mere 131pts and go on to finish 5th

Rnd 1: Crows down Hawks by 86 pts
Rnd 2: Hawks play Sydney at paper park and smash the swans by 91 pts and go on to win flag [ADE finish 9th]

Confucius says, person who quickly puts all their eggs into a half empty glass can still end up with egg on face... Although, he was heard to quickly to add - win the NAB and then are flat days prior to real season, WTF???

what does confucius say if you lose round 1 and 2 after winning NAB Cup?

I think we need to be careful comparing the lions to teams of the past, we all know how we played round 1
and it's fair to say every lions supporter is crapping themselves about round 2.
Hope is really all what we can bank on

If we were to lose on Saturday night, the omens for the season aren't great. The only other years in the club's 17 year merged history that we dropped the opening two rounds of the season were 1998 (won 5, finished last) and 2011 (won 4, finished 15th), the club's two worst season's.

If we do lose...let's hope the above trend does not continue.

Something that grinds my gears about some of the Lions players is that they quite often over-commit to spoils which allows their opponent to play on. I think our midfielders need better training at judging spoils.

Why the **** are Polkinghorne and McGrath playing against Adelaide?

Buy box of fortune cookies for 30 yuan... sheesh why does everyone wants my knowledge for free?

I have to very much so agree with you on this. McGrath shouldn't have even received a two year contract let alone two games in a row. Polkinghorne supposedly plays a role within the team, but are you telling me that there is no-one else who can do it! What role is it, defensive forward? Beams played as a tagger vs Melb last year and could certainly do it.

I would love just some justification of exactly why Polkinghorne continues to get games.
He plays an extremely important role in the team. I'm not sure what that role is because he doesn't do much, but clearly he is getting games because of it. Thank you James for not doing anything, but still playing that important role.

He must be doing some kind of job, but his polling in the club B&F doesn't really reflect that he is doing that either. I think it might be a case of him being a bigger bodied player who can play a few different roles, and at the moment, he is a depth player, giving the team an experienced player until a younger player develops further and pushes him out. We are a young team, we can't afford to play too many youngsters at once or we risk getting man handled like the Suns have been. Kids don't have the miles in the legs either to run out games strong, so it means more of the team running out of gas. Polks has also managed to find himself a spot in the forward line or down back as we haven't had much depth there in past seasons as he isn't upto a midfield role, but spots in the team are starting to run dry with Yeo, Golby, Green, Bewick, Zorko all taking spots up over the past 12 months. Also have Karni and Beams really putting their hand up this year. Next 12 months will be telling for Polks i think, once he loses his spot in the team, i think he will find it very hard to get back in.

I've had enough. The club promises big thing, but fail to deliver. If they pump themselves up they do when they know they will win games not when they lose and don't care.

I'm sick of waiting for a good season.

Why the hell do our players attempt the blind handball over their head, especially those back towards the opposition goals? Nothing good ever seems to come of them.

Because nobody is working up the field presenting as a target. If they get caught then they are cactus. Where else is there to go.

Martin, Brown and last week Cornelius are all playing too deep. Definitely need a mobile target up the field.

First post in the vent thread. Here goes.

I freaking hate it when our players bomb it long, honestly, you're getting paid to play football, surely you can spot targets up forward with a little precision.

Hate the fact that some of the posters are treating Brown with such disrespect, sure, he had a stinker of a game, but can we blame him with the midfield getting destroyed the way that it did?

Also hate that we are 0-2 after 2 rounds when both the games should have been wins. What makes it worse, the predictions of a bottom 4 finish are starting to come true if we don't pick up our game. Next 4 weeks are crucial.

AND HOW THE HELL DOES A PLAYER LIKE SLOANE END UP ON HIS OWN IN THE FORWARD 50 IN A CLOSE GAME?!?!?!

Ugh, hate the fact that the overrated Crows managed to beat us at home. And reading some of the bullshit on the Lions board is making it worse, think it's best to step away from BigFooty for a while.

It's going to be yet another week of grumpiness, low head and to top it all of, the onslaught from rugby fans on Monday about how the Broncos won and the Lions lost.

I've got to deal with annoying year 10's and 11's on monday and I've got to deal with my footy and umpiring teammates, you've got it easy. I think I will hang around St Kilda supporters for the next few days
