(Disclaimer: I know this is the Vent thread, but I'm honestly curious - this isn't intended to be an anti-vent question.)

Isn't what we get in return for buying memberships admission to the games?

I used to love going to training every now and again, bit it is now impossible as this happens often, so driving for a hour to get there when it is often changed is mad.

They probably should try to have at least one standard session open per week and encourage members to come along.

PFK it's not a slight on members. It's not just members who go to training sessions. Opposition scouts and opposition coaches are all there too having a look at positions, structures etc. Obviously there is something that they don't want St Kilda to know about. Wouldn't you rather have an ace up the sleeve that could help win the game?

And YES I know it's the vent thread! But closing one training session doesn't equal disregard for members.

With 24 000 members the club should be doing what ever it can to give more value and better engage with their members. The opposition scouts get their knowledge open or not. If the club thinks otherwise they are very naive in my opinion.

If they advertise an open training session leave it open is what I am saying. Maybe have every session closed and send an email invitation to all members alerting them to when an open session is scheduled. Make it more personal rather than disappointing. Membership numbers is a major key to success. We will not be competitive consistently without a stronger membership figure.

You are entitled to your opinion. And yes good idea about turning open sessions into a positive. However I don't agree about opposition getting information "open or not". Opposition teams are quite often taken by surprise at a certain player playing in an unexpected position. This would get worked out at closed sessions. Why give the opposition advance warning so they can plan for it? Anyway I reckon 90% of the time, there is an open session held by the club. No need to fly off the handle for one cancellation.

Anyway, to get this thread back on track... Livid that queenslanders have to wait til 10.45 tonight to see the weapon. Grrrr.

I'm with Fenway on this one. Most of the sessions are open, only very occasionally are they closed, training is open to members and non-members alike, and I don't think open training sessions are what draws membership in the first place - this will especially be the case when training happens to be at Springfield (it's a hell of a town). I don't think that training attendance is really something that the club owes it's fans and members.

Not that I don't respect a good vent, but some of this stuff is irking me a little bit.
