Ouch. That non-call should be the topic of many many segments in footy journalism for the next week.

AFL footy journalists won't give a rat's arse. Now, had we won and it were the same non-call for Carlton, well. The only interest in that game for journalists will be the concern that Geelong nearly went down to the lowly Lions.
Chris Scott says the Cats took their feet off the pedal because they saw the Fremantle score. How lucky that we get good teams when they're having a bad day.
I shouldn't complain, I hope next year opposition teams continue to pay us no respect. Any psychologist will tell you it gives us a slight advantage.

I was sitting about 20 meters away - thought it was a fair call - Chappy fell to ground ball grabbed for ball by him - ball seemed to be assisted/scoped under Chappy by Rich. Whistle blown quicker than normal by ump, ball up occurred which allowed the Lester snap...

Rushed behinds. When I watched the replay we rushed a few behinds for them that weren't necessary, it was just the easy option.

Hopefully when the boys watch the replay they'll realise the same thing too, that if they had just played to keep 2 of those rushed behinds in and cleared it out, they might've won. Of course Geelong might've also gotten the ball back and scored.

But in the modern game where quite a few scorelines are insanely close I think even giving the opposition 3 free points can come back to haunt you.

I think we had a lot of decisions go against us yesterday.

We could talk about Pods throw in the middle of the ground, or McGrath getting arm chopped/over the shoulder in the last, Chappys non-decision, Lisle's over the shoulder on the wing in the last etc. all of which were not paid.

But the vital one we needed was about 4 minutes out from 3 quarter time with scores level. Lisle, the man in front, takes a big pack mark however the mark is awarded to Lonergan from behind. Cats go bang bang bang - and we ultimately lose the game over the next three and a half minutes.

Unlucky.

Sunday footy show just spoke about it at length. They said the ump essentially blew it, not wanting to away a match deciding free kick, but should have because it was obvious.

In viewing the footage, chappy did not trip or fall. It was like a ball on the ground in union in the try zone and he dived on it so it was under his body. That was the classic reason for that rule to be brought in. Simply a wrong interpretation from an obvious decision. Definitely not an accidental fall.

The only person on that panel who's opinion I personally rate when voting on a Rising Star award is Kevin Sheehan's, he'd know the most about the players. No surprise that he's the one that gave Mayes the 1 vote. Grundy getting a vote for 5 games is a joke.

Craig comes from a 2 horse town where the audience is football centric..... I'm not sure he'll tick the box of being able to sell AFL into QLD....A good candidate worth an interview not sure he'll be short listed..
