Weird that Jay Clark says that he 'has seen countless kids kick the footy as Brighton Grammar coach'. Probably saw a few as Fitzroy and Adelaide coach as well.

I didn't think it was THE Robert Shaw since they didn't mention it, thought it was just another bloke luckily named Robert Shaw

Nah it's THE Robert Shaw...he is also a teacher at Brighton Grammar...If you listen to SEN on Saturday mornings the students from his class will ring up and prank him..

Bahaha, I loaded the Google Play store and this was one of the top recommendations it gave me. Made me wonder!

I think it's a bit like Facebook - no, just because I liked a Brisbane Lions comment doesn't mean I want to 'like' Gold Coast Suns or North Melbourne - I don't care if they're also talking about AFL, that's now how this works.

I've been making my own rant over in the Draft thread. I just do not understand why we would be doing such a thing where next year there a number of very good KPF to go early in the draft plus out own prospect of Hammelman. We have quite a number of KPF now eventhough they're B graders at best. I cannot fathom why we would do it. Those are saying, " if the club thinks he's the best at 7, or potential (hate that word)." Going to say it right now but but McCarthy IMO is going to be a Miss and on the back if the 5 leaving I think we need to play it a little bit more safe. Plus god forbid we have all been saying on here Mid, Mid , Mid at our first pick for months now. Don't they listen!

Poor old John Aloisi got sacked from the Melbourne Heart - they hadn't won a game this year and are 16 or so with out a win, it was sad but inevitable. Yet every pretend sports commentator is comparing him to Michael Voss -"great player that can't coach" - For ****s sake there is no comparison.

Thought I might vent, it's quiet a trivial thing but at the same time it really derails most football talk on the main board. It is our off season of 2013 and due to this I've seen far too many posters of other clubs disregarding many Brisbane Lions posters opinions because of our exodus, go home 5 etc, it seems to creep into pretty much anything, on facebook even today there was a link to the James Aish article by the AFL page with many writing he'll be going back to SA in 2 years. We've copped a hammering in the media and it's now very hard to read where there are the throw away line of our player retention issues used to validate the other posters point more, I would expect that kind of rubbish on the bay but its hard to avoid coming on here.

I think it should stop once the season proper starts, maybe even the pre season as I'm sure we'll play pretty well this year as I think the team has a point to prove. Anyway just my 2 cents, bring on footy season!

I stay away from the main board and posters from other Clubs for this reason. I don't think I could keep my temper and would make a huge fool of myself and my fellow fans (not that I don't make a huge fool of myself on the Brisbane board, but you guys are nicer about it than posters from other Clubs are ).

I still like reading the main board because often there are very interesting discussions, whether they are theoretical or to do with issues of the game. I might just not bother with opinions that aren't objectively for or against what many of our posters write which is usually where the attacking the poster not the post mentality can come in.

I think there are a lot of discussions on the main board that mimic mainstream media. Something happens and for a period after that event, everyone loves to write more about that topic.

Eg, a QANTAS plane might have engine trouble on a flight ... so for the next month every story about QANTAS messing up is written about.

I also generally avoid the main board.

I've often* thought about this - why are we such a mature and well-meaning bunch? There's always an idiot on a forum isn't there? Admittedly, this is the only one I visit.
