I had a limited edition cassette of XTC's English Settlement. It was numbered. I loved that album and I loved that cassette. Trouble is I played the thing to death. And I mean death. I wore the goose out. I still get teary and vent to this day about that

- why do your kids believe they can inherit things before us parents curl up their toes? Haven't seen/heard this for over two years!

My mental process when seeing an article pop up about one of our Mama's boy 5 is:

1. Hope for bad news

2. Feel bad about hoping for bad news, convince myself that I'm a good person and really actually do want 'insert mamas boy's name' to do well at their new club

3. Laugh at my feeble attempts at nobility and go back to hoping for bad news

I think they all will be.

The two departures I still really can't comprehend are Yeo and Longer, but in all seriousness, I just can't see how any of Polec, Docherty and Karnezis won't thrive in their new environments.

Geez, I can. Polec is the tough one to gauge, as he struggled so much with injury, but there were plenty of tales about attitude and commitment. Karny and Billy were denied games for a reason, and their failure to succeed at Brisbane is unlikely to be all Brisbane's fault.
Doc was a little disappointing, considering the hype before his debut. I think he'll be a good player but won't have us crying that he left.
Billy didn't get games because he just isn't ready for the role he is needed/suited in. Whether he is patient enough to remain disciplined and fulfill his potential remains to be seen.
Jared, as I said has stories of attitude and behaviour hanging over his head. Ego and application will decide his fate. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him fall flat. For him, the most important thing was to get to S.A. It maybe should have been becoming a footballer.
Karnezis, didn't like his lack of opportunities and was way too good to adapt to a role requested of him. Again, ego could easily get in the way.
Yeo for mine, is the most likely to succeed. Despite preferring to be home, he put in the work, did what was asked, and did it pretty bloody well.

They all have the skills and talent to be very good for their clubs, for a long time, but it takes much more to forge a career. Adaptability and commitment to what is asked of you is critical and I'm not convinced all or any have all that.

Never seen such a lazy top 10 pick in all my years as Polec. He may make it but he sure has to lift his on field work effort. Was at times terrible for us. He just stood still after making a kick for example. All the talk of injury is fine but when one plays they at least have to get into the game and not once did I ever feel that Polec even attempted to.

I tried to forget.

Mind you Cupido at least had a few really good games from memory. Was it against Essendon that he had one of those games where one thought we had a star in the making? Not once did I think that about Polec. By the same token I thought that about Brennan in his early days after he dobbed a few in periodically. Polec is no Cupido nor Brennan as of yet as much as it pains me to say.

I cant see Karnezis getting a run in at Collingwood tbh, I dont think Doc is anything special. Yeo looks like he can succeed at the Eagles and will get games cos Eagles are an average side IMO. Polec could be a star if he wasnt a mommas boy, if Ken pulls him in line then he could still be good and he might be willing to put the work in cos he has his mums cooking close by

Dunno if our being sarcastic or not. It is fine to like your mum but an AFL player has to be prepared to leave home as you are aware otherwise choose a different career.
