If we finish below Melbourne I'll streak the MCG on Grand Final day.

I personally think we will finish below Melbourne.
Combined with a much easier draw than us, better key forward stocks and a pretty even defensive and midfield unit compared to ours, not to mention the inevitable Roos effect, which IMO will be a lot more substantial than Leppitsch's, I sincerely think they will finish above us.

Yeah, tall forward would be the only area where Melbourne have a marked advantage. Even then, they've got to get them on the paddock first.Geez I totally disagree. I reckon Melbourne's team is a whole stack of ordinary. A collection of players that are somehow both inconsistent and not particularly damaging.
There's a limit to what Roos can get out of them.
Srry for ignornace, can someone explain how Melbourne and some other clubs gets this mini-draft. Melbourne got Hogan from mini-draft, and l think O'meara and Martin from Suns. Why can't we get a good pick from a mini-draft?
"He who is prudent and lies in wait for an enemy who is not, will be victorious."Classic military strategy.
Presumably because they threw their picks away so they couldn't be stripped from the tanking debacle. Still irks me that we missed out on Hogan.Teams had to trade with GWS to get a selection. Our offer for Hogan didn't beat Melbourne's.
I am not sure what Melbourne and us offered for Hogan, but l feel we should have thrown a lot at it. I dont believe we will be a top 8 threat until we have a number 1 forward that is decent.Presumably because they threw their picks away so they couldn't be stripped from the tanking debacle. We did. From memory we offered pick 8, then pick 8 and 24 and even may have offered 8, 24 and 33 (all the picks we had). Melbourne offered much better because they were afraid of losing their picks.I am not sure what Melbourne and us offered for Hogan, but l feel we should have thrown a lot at it. years*Well, apparently this ears draft is full of KPP, so hopefully we can get a gun forward there. This season is a win-win l rekon. If we do really good, then awesome and we show AFL what we are about. If we don't do very good, then we can get a good pick and get a gun forward.
Prob shouldnt have been in the vent thread but ah well.
*This 'ere draft...years*
Hawthorn goes into the second half undefeated, as Melbourne and Brisbane Lions are yet to win a game and are eagerly awaiting their first clash of the season in Round 19.
Losing so many high draft picks in trades has to hurt in the short term
Seven's "AFL expert" Mark Stevens likes us for the bottom 2 as well.

I particularly like this line:
No dickhead. It will hurt long term, if anything. Short term we've lost a half back flanker and some questionable depth.
Need a separate thread with pundit predictions methinks. They're starting to add up.
