Full shave down and fake tan? A la the State of Origin streaker? You gotta do it right!

If Melbourne miraculously finish first and we finish second.....

I personally think we will finish below Melbourne.

Combined with a much easier draw than us, better key forward stocks and a pretty even defensive and midfield unit compared to ours, not to mention the inevitable Roos effect, which IMO will be a lot more substantial than Leppitsch's, I sincerely think they will finish above us.

And as for Leppitsch being the 18th ranked coach, even if it is by Jon Ralph, why the surprise? I too would have ranked him 17th or 18th with Adam Simpson merely because they are the most inexperienced coaches going round. Richardson would be about 16th on the back of being a pretty senior assistant coach. As others have said, it is obviously a pointless exercise even ranking the coaches at this stage anyway.

See I think that Lepp and Simpson should have been unrated BECAUSE they are currently sitting at 0 games.

I don't think it makes any sense to rank them without observed premiership season form.

Geez I totally disagree. I reckon Melbourne's team is a whole stack of ordinary. A collection of players that are somehow both inconsistent and not particularly damaging.

There's a limit to what Roos can get out of them.

I think our midfield is much better than Demons. From statistics we were very evenly matched with the Swans. I don't know enough of the Demons defense but l think ours is relatively good. Their forward line is pretty good, but l dont rate FitzPatrick.

Yeah, tall forward would be the only area where Melbourne have a marked advantage. Even then, they've got to get them on the paddock first.

Srry for ignornace, can someone explain how Melbourne and some other clubs gets this mini-draft. Melbourne got Hogan from mini-draft, and l think O'meara and Martin from Suns. Why can't we get a good pick from a mini-draft?

Teams had to trade with GWS to get a selection. Our offer for Hogan didn't beat Melbourne's.

Presumably because they threw their picks away so they couldn't be stripped from the tanking debacle. Still irks me that we missed out on Hogan.
I am not sure what Melbourne and us offered for Hogan, but l feel we should have thrown a lot at it. I dont believe we will be a top 8 threat until we have a number 1 forward that is decent.

Short of offering someone like Leuenberger, Rich or Hanley we offered all we could.

We did. From memory we offered pick 8, then pick 8 and 24 and even may have offered 8, 24 and 33 (all the picks we had). Melbourne offered much better because they were afraid of losing their picks.

Well, apparently this ears draft is full of KPP, so hopefully we can get a gun forward there. This season is a win-win l rekon. If we do really good, then awesome and we show AFL what we are about. If we don't do very good, then we can get a good pick and get a gun forward.

Prob shouldnt have been in the vent thread but ah well.

Add Daryl Timms to the Jay Clark/Jon Ralph club with his prediction for where the competition will be after Round 12:

Hawthorn goes into the second half undefeated, as Melbourne and Brisbane Lions are yet to win a game and are eagerly awaiting their first clash of the season in Round 19.

Seven's "AFL expert" Mark Stevens likes us for the bottom 2 as well.

I particularly like this line:
Losing so many high draft picks in trades has to hurt in the short term

No dickhead. It will hurt long term, if anything. Short term we've lost a half back flanker and some questionable depth.

Need a separate thread with pundit predictions methinks. They're starting to add up.
