Don't think anything has been confirmed but I'm not expecting anything positive.

AFL website said serious achillies injury, but who knows.

EDIT - they have now changed that story to knee injury.

2ND EDIT - AFL website now reporting the Lions belive it is not an ACL, but Leuy will still need scans to see how serious his knee injury is.

My vent won't be a popular one but I don't care, my vent is in regards to the people ALREADY giving up on this club. A couple of bad losses and it's sack this, sack that. Bad losses make the wins all that sweeter. Give the players some time to adjust before we all start calling for heads.

I know the vent thread is to be used for people to not be judged but some of the comments in here and elsewhere have been laughable.

And sort of hand-in-hand with that, people beginning to already talk up the draft picks and hinting we should aim to finish low this year? Gross. Totally gross. If you want to see where a culture like that lands you, watch Carlton and Melbourne today. It's one thing to be aware we might get them, another to encourage the downward slide.

I haven't seen any of that, people are letting off steam. 10 years with one finals appearance and we are still rock bottom. Frustrating. We are all equals and friends here.

I would like to vent about the collective Port jerk circle that took place in the commentators box today. It was already a painful game to endure as a Lions supporter, however the incoherent ramblings of Ricciuto compounded by the barrage of condescension and Matthew Campbell fanboyism made it unbearable viewing.:thumbsdown:

Melbourne, Bulldogs and GWS have gone pass us. Really hope we can beat the Saints but with their draw we'll probably still win the spoon.

Not a good result for a team so close to making finals last year (thanks to Dank and Hirdy).

Meniscus requires surgery doesn't it?

Hoping it isn't the 'unhappy triad'....complete or partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament, and the meniscus.

I am a physio. He may or may not need surgery if he has done a meniscus, depends on the scan.

Our players lack durability.

Look at Polec...ffs look at his body shape compared to when he was running around with us?? Why couldnt our staff and fitness leaders get the best out of him? Why does big Luey still look like a rake after being in the system since 06?

We need to look at the players that we draft IMO, in terms of their durability to get out there week on week.

Interesting thoughts. I think Leuy has always had trouble bulking up though. Injuries and that staph infection hasn't made it easy for the big fella.

Getting beaten by Port always hurts that little bit more than other losses...

look at ports first and 2nd year players...

even the ones not playing today...

running ability. first to the ball. tough.

our pick 4 ruck from the 06 draft getting towelled up, just like he got thrashed against mcevoy, and even the suns ruck last week.

we aren't strong enough, innovative enough, we look slow, no gut busting running....when was the last time you saw a lions player vomitting from effort...that would have been blackie...last year

all this takes time to develop, sure, but other teams do it much much better than us.

thats coming from a physio that has been watching my beloved lions since dot

Was just saying something along these lines in the review thread, has to be looked at as
we look to have the wrong shape for footy in the modern age, maybe we were hoping the interchange rule change would better suit players with endurance, well doesn't look like much has changed.

It also comes back to innovation. Remember the lions at their best??? 13 years ago...they were innovative. The little 1% stuff. Aker getting in the hyperbaric chamber for that little bit extra, as well as his magnetic underlay on his mattress. Ok, pushing the boundaries, but its trying to get every edge that you can. Even placebo stuff is ok if it works.

agree my friend

I look at our body shapes v most of the league, even our 1st and second yr players

look at polecs body shape....lean n mean. skillful no injuries. Why does he shine at port and spend yrs in the wilderness here? why can port get the best out of his body, so that it looks different.

I notice those little things. Its my job as a movement specialist.

I'm not disagreeing with you. Many of our players have been monstered by stronger bodies this year. We have really struggled to lay effective tackles that impact the opposing player's disposal. I just think in Leuy's case he is more a Cox type of build, and has had setbacks that have made muscle gain difficult.
