If a team can't kick one measly goal in a half of football, you are not a premiership contender..

If you only beat melbourne by 1 point, you are not a premiership contender.

Time to wake up, Jolly and Ball combination aren't the messiahs we all hoped..

Leon Davis, pathetic..
Darren Jolly, have you forgotten how to ruck..?
McCarthy, spud
Trav Cloke, Cannot kick to save his life, never be able to build a forward line around him
Leigh Brown, Undisciplined
Fraser - career hanging by a thread

But the upsides,

Harry O - Emerging to be one of the best rebounding defenders in the game
Daisy - Finally stepping up
Luke Ball - Looked alot better, won alot of contested ball
Wellingham - looking more composed every game
Sidebottom - 250 game player in the making

Pretty simple, if you can't kick goals, you can't win games..
Very disappointing..

On tonight's performance we are a long way off being a contender in 2010.

The forward line is completely ineffective and players missing set shots from 30 meters out is just unacceptable. Overall work rate and skills execution of the Pies players tonight was extremely disappointing.

Hat's off to St Kilda though - gutsy win, showed real heart and determination. I hope the players take a good hard look at the replay during the week.

p.s. Malthouse might want to focus on verbalizing our players rather than having a crack at the St Kilda players at quarter time.

You know what? Stop ****ing arguing semantics and technicalities, and look at what the **** is happening out there.

Either way, 30 points, 60 points, we were ****ing abused by a FAR better side tonight and outcoached AGAIN!!!

So what if we fluked a win against the Bulldogs? We beat Melbourne by a DROPPED MARK and nothing more.

Expect the Hawks to molest us as well. And you know what? Screw you AND your bullshit nitpicking.

Even if we only lose by 40 points ot the Hawks it will still be an embarassment.

I can just see it now....
The day we win a flag, you'll claim you've always supported the club and never been a fair weather supporter.

The comment that we "fluked" the win against the dogs is just plain ludicrous!
Mate, I was there.... We beat them fair and square!
Tonight, we were the better team in every facet of the game apart from the goal kicking. I know this is all that matters, but you are so far off the mark, it is laughable!

I try and be positive, but I think people have got it wrong saying that people are overreacting and that we matched them except for accuracy.

I know we matched them for a lot of the game except for accuracy, but this is a constant problem. We continually lose games in which we match teams for long epriods but can't kick straight and can't maintain the intensity for 4 full quarters. And until we fix these problems we won't win a premiership.

Anything other than a top 4 finish is a backwards step this year and even if we make it I can't see us troubling the slick, ruthless football of the saints, cats or even the bulldogs when it matters.

Were you there tonight mate?
To be honest, I thought J-Mac was actually quite good tonight considering.
He needs to get another few games in a row to pick up the pace of senior footy. Give the kid a break :thumbsu:

He lacks awareness and every time I see him play it doesn't improve. Just doesn't look like making it, in my opinion. Happy for him to prove me wrong, though.

Haha, please. You come here gloating about being some kind of genius after we lose to a champion side. Do you want praise for this or something? It's the easiest thing in the world to prattle on about how poor we are leading up to a game against St Kilda.

Have you seen anyone put us up there with St Kilda?

Honestly, apart from your tantrums about how poor Collingwood apparently are, I have not seen you be correct about anything, even by accident. What's even funnier is that you can't even fess up when you are.

I feel a bit sorry for you. You don't seem to be able to enjoy sport unless you're following the best team. Your description of our win against the Dogs make it seem like you didn't even get much enjoyment out of that.

You're obviously a very, very unhappy person in general. I hope things pick up for you soon.

Best idea for a thread all year.

Well done to the Saints, they showed tonight how pathetic Collingwood really is, and just how much more skillful they are. If we cant beat them tonight with their best player injured, and others hobbling throughout the game, we never will.

If our idiot of a coach insists on playing this boundary line crap, then you have to hope that the team has the kicking skills to undertake it, which we haven't had in the last few years and still don't. We wont win a premiership with this style either this year or next, and we have to hope that Buckley doesn't go by the same style otherwise we are f****d in the future as well.

We have no forward line structure, and we have no one there who knows how to kick straight except for Anthony. I give Cloke two years before he goes the way of his brothers, out of the club.

Good to see that we recruited a ruckman who best attribute is giving away free kicks in ruck contests.

I said it last year, we should have gone hard for Fevola, an actual forward.

Rant over.

It pains me to say it but i doubt this loss was due to our kicking , the lack of heart was the issue. This might sound weird but Riewoldt going down actually worked in Saints favour. Very ****in tough loss to live through :mad::mad:

Both Jmac and Macarthy (and include Dawes to the list) will not improve unless they are given consecutive game time, like Wellingham has. We have all seen his improvement over the past few weeks.

This is why I want to play these 3 guys more, specially Dawes, as we're lacking in the forward line.

The lack of awareness is due to not being used to the speed of senior footy compared to the 2's.
Dayne Beams got caught unaware at the start of the last weeks game as well..... This is exactly the reason, he needs a few games in a row... :thumbsu:

He's right though. You've been doomsaying all this time, you predicted a loss against the bulldogs and were wrong, now we lose against the Saints who are clearly a better team very few on here would've thought we'd win this game and you come strolling in with a shit eating grin saying "I told you guys, you should've listened!"

It was a pathetic performance tonight but seeing you revel in the loss like a pig in mud disgusts me even more.

You're arguing with a guy who once claimed Brad Johnson does nothing against Collingwood.

It was kindly pointed out that he actually featured in the Brownlow votes the previous time we had played.

What happened then? He called us all delirious supporters, and prattled on about how much we'd lose by.

And boy, was he bang on or what?

Almost as correct as his thoughts about how the O'Brien/Milne match up would go.

He obviously gets no enjoyment from supporting the club. God knows why he does. He actually seems happier when we lose because he can come in here and pretend to be some kind of genius football analyst because we lost.

I'm just glad I'm able to enjoy supporting the Pies.

Disgraceful, pitiful, weak, insipid...just a few words to describe the effort they put in 2nite. Sure that first quarter was good, showed some heart, but there were ZERO excuses for not getting the job done in the following 3 quarters. F**k me how can u not kick a goal after half time??!! We have no forward line, our depth is sh*thouse & we are a long long way from a flag. I can't even be bothered naming players that underperformed cause I'd be here all night. Every year I set myself up & believe the hype & every year I'm let down.

agree totally

To me it seems like Mick has trouble changing up the game plan.
Stubborness I assume.
When they started to get on top at the start of the last, why couldn't we take risks?
Run it through the middle of the ground would be a start! We simply don't have the foot skills to play precision football around the wings!

I think we are the only team in the AFL that doesn't seem to value the term
"Straight up the guts"!

After 10 years, when will this F...ing Board wake up and realise the Malthouse game plan can only ever work when you have a list of talented players.

Before you are all shoot me down, we do have talent, but his game plan won't allow them to use the talent... they are all F...ing wasting their time guarding space !!

As this stage we are so far off the top 2 or 3 sides only fools would think we could match it with them.

Wellingham is a STAR ! If a few of the "so called" senior players had the same guts and determination as him then we might see some future improvement.

Any one else sick of watching 10 years of hugging the boundry line ???

17 17 17 17 17 17 17 17 how the f*** can you kick 17 17 f****** points and not a single goal in the whole f****** last half how the **** is that even f****** possible???? we just couldn't kick a goal f****** Didak and cloke and davis and mehurst all can't kick a ******* goal. out defence was superb but we jsut can't kick goals, and if you can't kick goals you can't win games of football. Simple as f****** that.:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

this x2 what bull**** im trying to be as positive as i can but when u have to go through that it just makes u sick... Another problem is we think we've won the game b4 the actual siren sounds... We took melb lightly last week, subsequently jst winning, we see roo and fisher go off and think the games going to just be handed to us, its called kick a f**** g***** and work twice has hard now while they have lost key men!!! Its demoralizing when you miss a hand full of chances and ur opponents just go bang bang on the rebound.. In all fairness i thought ball played very well but his biggest challenge is backing it up next week, and not just playing well against ur ex team that doesnt get us anywere.. Jolly though needs to pull his finger out at this rate id rather cam wood, lets hope the team pulls there heads in on the track this week and we come away with the chocolates against the hawks next week!:confused:

Well, considering I go week in week out and have been for over 20 years, I'd say that I'm in fact NOT a fairweather supporter.

Just tired of putting up with mediocrity.

I WILL be happy when (if) we win a flag, wanna know why? Because Malthouse won't be there when we do! A PROPER coach will take us to our next flag, don't hold your breath waiting for it to come in the next 2 years.

Haha, please. You come here gloating about being some kind of genius after we lose to a champion side. Do you want praise for this or something? It's the easiest thing in the world to prattle on about how poor we are leading up to a game against St Kilda.

Uuuuuuuuh, yeah? Havent we been called PREMIERSHIP CONTENDERS? That would indicate that we could match it with or BEAT St.Kilda when it counts?

Call me crazy, but that to me sounds like we've been put up there with St.Kilda, but don't let logic get in the way of your technicalities.

He's right though. So if you all think St.Kilda is a FAR better team (which none of you truly do) then we shouldn't hear the words PREMIERSHIP CONTENDER, and COLLINGWOOD uttered in the same sentence ever again this year. Agreed?

To me it seems like Mick has trouble changing up the game plan.
Stubborness I assume.

So if you can see the problem in our side, and know Malthouse won't EVER change, why would you expect a flag from Mick?

I've been a lone voice in saying this but it was a ****ING MISTAKE to drop the Jack Attack.

As I have said, even on his dirty days he is very reliable for a goal or two and he would have easily kicked us a few in the first 3 quarters where we were constantly spraying them.

We dominated a game for nothing really.

Many applauded Mick for making a "stand" on Jack when guys like Toovey (who constantly fumbles the ball in crucial moments) and Leroy Brown (has he even had a shot on goal yet?) keep getting games. It's a disgrace!

Goldsack and Jack need to come back into the team at the expense of those two asap.

As for structure, Jack is a very good inside 50 player and he would have been absolutely crucial to have someone to help Cloke out as a tall target deep in attack when we were all over them, despite their numbers in the back half.

Well we competed with St Kilda with Rooey for a half, so it'll be good to see us play them again. Do our players practise goal kicking during the week???? 4.17 or whatever is just ****ing pathetic. We had more shots than them and quite simply we should've won.

But I'm happy that we at least showed that we can beat them if we take our chances. Of course I'm ****ing pissed off as we should've won that (esp. with Rooey gone), but we still showed something tonight.
