I have a just a black screen here, by the sounds of things i aint missing anything..
Going by his previous posts you are. They are pure comedy. Without knowing what he said it’s sack everyone over 26. Play 3 games in New Zealand and we get 10k members. One game in China. Games in tassie.

I am in the book of I don't think we need to change to much our list is pretty good on the whole.
With the likes of Clark, billings, gresham,Coffield, hannebury, ross is a solid midfield nucleus with some real upside there
Marshall we hit the jackpot with
battle, carlisle as defensive anchors
King, membrey, bruce is a good 3 punch combo when they finally get on the park together

Pick 3-6 is right in the range of my favourite player in the draft caleb serong a robbie gray clone

if steven wants to go back to west victoria use him in a deal to get kelly to freo and get brad hill back

We need stkilda people involved .
Roo
Warne
The first two . We have no profile or any reason for people to come . We need to develop some swagger or credibility other wise we will remain the poor cousin of everyone getting all the leftovers . I’m sick of being medium actually I’d love medium at white moment . I want to be excited that the weekend is coming and the saints are on .

Now that the head coach has been changed, it's time to consider which other positions need a new person in them.

I have question marks over the following:

Board members
CEO
Director of Coaching
Sandringham head coach
Goal kicking specialist coach
Ruck coach

We all acknowledge that just changing the coach and some players is not fixing the long term problem at the club. The people in charge of the Richsrdson extension obviously aren't savvy enough to be trusted with future decisions.

I like Matt Finnis, he's been the best CEO we've had since I've followed the club, has simply saved the club with his actions. His backing of the coach when everyone else wanted him gone last year showed loyalty, humanity, and an open mind, but also showed a lack of guts and the ruthlessness required to do what needs to be done sometimes in clubland. I still think we're probably better off with him for now, but might be time for him to get a big one right.

I'll fess up - I don't know what the St Kilda Director of Coaching does. I'd assumed it had to do with overseeing an overall coaching strategy as it is in other sports, but have been told by people who live closer to the club than me lol that's not the case. So what does Danny Sexton do? If it's just like arrange his coaches salaries and handle paperwork etc, then he's fine to continue. If there's even a shred of a tactical element to the job, he gets the arse and we headhunt the man with the masterplan adapted for now and the future.

We are at the crossroads here: do we shuffle deckchairs on the Titanic or do we scrap the Road to 2018/20 and redraw a new direction for the football part of this club to go on? We have a core of about 15-20 players depending on how deep we want to cut, a number of exciting but potentially controversial Trade Out possibilities, a new start beckoning with head coach and a very recent core of heads on our team - Bassat, Lethlean, Allen, Gallagher, O'Shaunessey, Riewoldt and Ratten - who are crafty enough to chart a course for the Holy Grail.

I still want Bevo by the way, Would Ratten and he work together do you think, either Ratten as his assistant or and the DoC in a strategic not administrative sense?

Yeah actually think Finnis has been ok , but made some howlers also.
Really happy with direction we are going with the President , there are going to be changes to board ,
Lethlean I have little doubt craves the CEO role gives the club a harder edge in a football direction
rather than trying to be a community saviour, Gubby would be good get taking Lethleans current role.
Director of Coaching position needs to change immediately
VFL alignment needs to significantly better than it is , these are all fixable .

We already have the ruck coach there ...Lade for mine..

Not that despondent to be honest lots of issues on field this year , personally hope Ratten is given the keys,
but accept clubs decision on who they appoint.

Agree with all of this. Finnis is probably the last remaining key person from the 2012 - 2018 period and I think moving him on is the last piece of the puzzle. We need a higher profile person in this role and I think Lethlean fits the bill in lots of ways.

Not sure that "Profile" is the important part of the job.

It is for Saints. And by profile I do not mean someone "media" famous, I mean someone who is held in high regard and well networked within the AFL. Big clubs can get away with relying on their club brand to move and shake. Saints cannot (yet). We need someone whose voice is loud.

How come I can’t read the mighty nexus nick first post.

Here you are sir.

IMHFO there are 2 ways we can move into 2020 and beyond. The first option (and my least preferred), is as follows…..

Continue to make ridiculously high offers to Free Agents (Coniglio), and hope we snag 1.
Continue to chase this Essendon ruckman and offer a ridiculous amount of money to entice him over. But my question is why? He is coming off a knee reconstruction and he has not even played a senior game yet.
Continue to trade out our future second round pick on someone who has possibly been starved of opportunities and hope he turns into a Jack Steele.
Use our first pick (probably pick 4 overall), on someone who is already injured and pat ourselves on the back saying if he wasn’t injured he would have gone at pick 1. The fact he was injured. McCartin diabetes, Freeman hamstrings, King Knee reconstruction, Bytel back. Nothing against these kids but have any worked or are any looking like they will work?

Or

We build from the ground up. Similar to what Carlton has done. Mark my words, Carlton will be top 4 in 2021. The difference between us and Carlton is we have already got very good young talent so it won’t take as long as them.

What I would like to see is us forget about Free Agents and forget about trading in players. What I want to see is hit the Draft as hard as possible. Ask the AFL for a priority pick. If we can get one good. Even if it is at the end of round 1 that’s good to.

The only trading I would do is players that are 28 or over as at January 2020. Use them plus a pick to get a better pick back. Then take that pick to the draft.

With that in mind, the first player I want to discuss is Carlisle. He will be 28 in October and by the time we challenge he will be retired. Cash him in now. Carlisle and our fourth round pick (pick 55), for a pick under 20.

Jack Steven plus our round 4 pick (pick 76) to Geelong for their first pick (pick 19).

Go to the draft with pick 4, pick 18 (Carlisle), pick 19 (Steven), pick 20 priority pick.
The one other thing I would explore is what teams would give us for pick 4. If we could convert that into pick 10 and 17 I would take it in a flash.

Go to the draft with pick 10, 17, 18, 19 and 20.

We lose Carlisle and Steven. That doesn’t matter. They hardly played this year and even if they did we would still be crap.

Going forward the younger core of our list would be player numbers 1, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 19, 21, 23, 24, 26, 28, 35. Nail draft picks 10, 17, 18, 19 and 20 and the new coach will have something to work with.

Start by letting your best midfielder not be your tagger, think the new coach might let Steele of the chain?

Potentially but Steele has also said he plays better when he has the focus of beating one opponent because otherwise he can get a bit lost at stoppages. They might just have him go head to head instead of a strict tag.
