I think we would be better served going after May than Lynch also,we could do with both but if we can only get 1 then May is the one we should chase.I think we really missed Cox on the weekend and we need him this weekend desperately I think our attack has looked pretty good with Cox and Mihocek as tall options if Moore re signs he can go through there as another tall option.Defense wins matches and we need more cover down back particularly at KPD,Lynch would be a luxury but May is a necessity.

Darcy Moore is the bloke we need to signed before either of them though so 1) Moore 2) may 3)lynch.

With the new rules all but locked in for next year regarding zones.

Will be alot of one on one opportunities for key forwards.

Lynch will be a very valuable pick up for whoever gets him, will kick 70 in a top 8 team.
Agree. Mason Cox will win his fair share of 1v1s too!

Are they? I thought they were still 1 of the more speculative changes being presented to the powers that be.

Going off May's latest interview, he's gone this year or next. GC and the AFL need to accept that the first launch of the club was a failure, wipe the slate clean and trade May now. By ripping off the band aid now, they can enter the "super draft" with 5 picks in the top 20, 3 of which are likely to be top 10. Like Carlton now and GWS' foundation, there is no point in GC trying to entice or retain big players in the 25-30 year bracket, when there are obviously going to be lean years ahead.

6 months ago the grapevine rumours were that it was all but a done deal that Lynch will be a Pie. Add that to the fact that we didn't nibble at any of the key forwards on the trade table last year made me confident he was ours. The media has cooled right off on us but not sure if this is based on any real information or not. The club was quite public in some comments that we were interested in him previously. Not sure if this has changed or if we are just being a bit more tight lipped in comparison to Richmond and Hawthorn expressing confidence. If we are still interested then I can't see a reason why he won't come to us but definitely not as confident any more.

Theres a reason why the media has changed its speculation. Its because they have no idea. The way they work is they throw around a few names and then if they get it right at the end of the season they claim they were first.
I am very confident Lynch is coming to the Pies because pre season there was only 2 choices, GC or us.

The upside, if we do miss out on Lynch, then we still have McGovern or May to target...not bad runners up prizes.
If we miss out on all 3 then I’ll be extremely disappointed.
I reckon it's Lynch or nothing. McGovern won't leave WA in my opinion, and if Lynch goes elsewhere, I reckon May will get a fair payrise to stay.

Just to quote myself, I found what I was talking about. For anyone interested, go and google "Scott Pendlebury are helmets the answer" and it comes up with a link to the podcast, which 26 minutes in the following discussion takes place:

Jay Clark: He could command 1.5m on the open market...

Scott Pendlebury: But if he wants to win a flag, why would he go and then destroy a club's salary cap by asking for 1.5?

Jay Z: That's what I was going to say, is 1.5 too much?

Scott Pendlebury: Yes, if he wants to win a flag, that's too much.

Granted 1.5m is at the higher end of what has been reported, but interesting nonetheless.
Some good points here but I am too totally impressed with someone who would quote themselves, thats brilliant

I share your reservations about costs but do feel that if its money he stays at GC where with the AFL's help he will be on over 2 million a year. He comes to Victoria for personal and team success or not at all.

I have seen nothing anywhere with any substance to suggest which is his preferred destination, just lots of rumours and comments from so called experts.

My thinking is he would still lean towards the club he followed and which his family follows ... which is you guys ... but it comes with a proviso ... if he wants success he will need to believe his chosen club is on the verge of success ... you need to hold on to that top 4 position ...

If he ends up at Richmond I won't be here trolling, I will be here hiding, I have been talking down our getting Lynch on the main forums and Richmond forums ever since Rance made his comments

I just read the article above if it is that one.

Why does he have to commit if he is contracted next year?
I heard him on SEN (I think it was last night). To me it sounded like he didn't want to commit anything past next year. He did nothing to play down the rumours, other to say that no one has spoken to him yet, and that he is contracted for next year.

Beyond that, I reckon he's gone.

I think the May thing is just a rumour and nothing more.

That's my take on the article above but I didn't hear him on SEN.

It's a wait and see approach, the people in the know seem to be keeping a lid on it and doing a good job. We have been much better at it lately than previously. The rest is all speculation, there is also the possibility that Lynch hasn't made up his mind yet.

We lose Dunn and its who fills the void and can we get them. May fills the need and GCS are vulnerable, makes a good story, media gets the clicks it needs because it its associated with Collingwood and we all fall in. May was pretty clear he was contracted for next year and he was concentrating on leading the team. May will stay put IMHO.
