Before the questions start being asked, here is how it went down:

Hutchy "Have you spoken to Tom Lynch?"
Buckley "Yep"
The question was have you met with him. Also:

Hutchy- How long ago?
Bucks - bit of pause..'a while back'

Bucks (paraphrased)- 'he would fit well in our side, it would be a good mix'

For me it depends how long ago we have met with him. I think the pause was about Bucks answering honestly by saying he only met with him a while ago. Not that the club hasnt been in contact since then.

I'd agree and would rather have May for less than Lynch right now. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't May say he will see out his contract and not consider a move until it's done?
“I am still a contracted player for next year and my focus is trying to help this team turn around,’’ he said.

“I am out of contract next year but at this stage I am committed to the Suns.

“I don’t think as captain you would be trying to shop yourself around but crazier things have happened"

“Clubs have traded players and captains and I don’t think the club wants to trade me, but if they did that would be a conversation we would have to have"

He didn’t give a date... how do you figure?

I was told Tom made both the decision to leave AND the club he wants to go to “ages ago”.

Bucks said they met with Tom a while back.

Pretty confident given he and his father are fanatical Collingwood supporters that it’s us.

It was pretty definitive......we have been into him for a while.

This will cause another 50 pages on the Tigers board lol.

Bucks was pretty coy on the methods used but from the sounds of it we spoke to him a while ago, Richmond has only spoke to him this week so he’s clearly still weighing up his options but they clearly have more money in their cap than us.
Where did you hear Richmond only spoke to him this week?

Because if true then it’s definitely us

On Footy classified. You can relax, I'm already encoding and uploading the interview to youtube. :p
I watched it. Must have missed that.

Very very confident it’s us if that’s the case. I was told by someone who knows him that the decision to leave and his club of choice was made a while back. If Richmond only spoke to him this week then that counts them out.

Leaves us and Hawthorn.

He might have met them prior to this week but from the sounds of the footy media last week a few journos were saying he was having dinner with Richmond players and coach. I’m also surprised his met with bucks earlier this year as it was reported heavily that he’s only starting those conversations post the knee injury, if his snuck in a chat with the pies earlier in the year this might be a secondary meeting with Richmond this week.

Everyone knows meetings with Buckley in Bali don't count.

Mmm I wouldn't be so sure. A couple of weeks is a long time in football... We can hope though. I'm not sure if it was just Bucks playing his cards close to his chest but he seemed flat when discussing Lynch.

People said in 2016 he was definitely coming to us because he was a fanatical Pies fan. We made him an offer that he rebuffed. People then said no he would be coming in 2017. In 2017 people said he was definitely coming to us because he was a fanatical Pies fan. We made him a further offer that he rebuffed. People then said he would be definitely coming to us in 2018 because there would be nothing to stop him because he would be a RFA and he is a fanatical Pies fan. In 2018 we have made him an offer.....So is he a football romantic and join his childhood team or does he join his BF at Richmond?....

Fair chance he spoke to lots of clubs awhile back.

I hope it’s us, I think given where our list is at and that his family is supposed to be pies mad, that it will be a logical fit. I think Bucks comments throughout the year have pointed to us too.

Guess we are waiting until the team he wants to go to is out of contention this year...

Caught Footy Class’

Bucks always interviews well despite only being served up trash.

People will read whatever they want from his answers about Lynch because he didn’t really say anything.

Yep he would happily coach Tom Lynch...as would 17 other coaches.

Yes met with Lynch ‘a while back’...but all clubs aggressively trying to improve their lists so wouldn’t be the only club to have met with him.

So Buckley confirmed Collingwood have an interest in aggressively improving our list, and T.Lynch is a good player....

But it will create media fodder tomorrow and keep the cycle going for a while.

And people here will try to read into a pause, whether he half smirked, did he blink quicker when talking or whether it confirms some water cooler talk they heard ‘a while back’.

I think if we were out of the race Buckley would of just said it and put the whole thing to bed. There's no way he would put up with the daily badgering if we weren't still in with a shot.
Bucks is a smart operator, and would know if he believes he is Richmond bound, try to ensure they pay correct weight I would think.

And as they say, until he signs on the dotted line - you keep trying.

Agreed. I didn't mean he doesn't believe we aren't still a crack, just that even they see him Richmond bound and are only just hoping he has a late change of heart

If he knew it was us ages ago why would he bother to meet with Richmond this week? I see it the opposite at first glance.

The best option of all is that he decided it was us ages ago and wanted to troll Richmond . I can understand the need to do that.
