It’s great to hear we’ve met with Lynch, but why is the talk so strong that he is over the line for Tigers?
The media is reading social media and vice versa so it's grown some legs. One nutbag on twitter said he spoke to Bachar Houli and he said it was a done deal. I know for a fact that Bachar told him nothing.
At the moment, Richmond is the juiciest story due to them being flag favourites and being even further strengthened next year, Hawthorn is second because of the clearing of cap space, Roughead may be retired and the fact that O'Meara is Lynch's best mate. Collingwood is third because the fact that Lynch was a Pies fan as a kid doesn't seem interesting enough. Moore being injured also means that there isn't a side story worth running with. If Moore was playing and his form was good, the story around Lynch, Moore and Collingwood would be much bigger.

If he knew it was us ages ago why would he bother to meet with Richmond this week? I see it the opposite at first glance.

The best option of all is that he decided it was us ages ago and wanted to troll Richmond . I can understand the need to do that.
I'd say it's between us and Richmond. Hawthorn have no hope because they wear shit colours. My view is as reliable as anybody's at this stage. Not very reliable at all.

I’ve said this a few times but Bucks normally gives nothing away and plays his poker face yet whenever he is asked about Lynch he seems more open than normal. I’ve always hoped this meant he has committed to us.
As piewithsauce said a few posts up.
If has committed to us then why would he be meeting with Richmond.
Since we are all speculating I will throw in my two bobs worth.
Him meeting with Richmond either means he is going there or that he hasn't yet committed to any team and is still weighing up his options.

Watched Bucks on Footy Classified and watched Hardwick answer questions regarding Lynch on Talking Footy.
If all I had to go on to guess where Lynch is going next year was how the two coaches responded my tip would be Richmond.
I'm sure others here will watch both and come to the exact opposite conclusion.

And why the hell am I posting in this thread. I really don't care if we get him or not.
Actually if the reported money is true then I would rather we didn't.

Lynch supporting Collingwood is completely irrelevant lol.

Adams is a Cats man and they were the other club into him. He picked us. Treloar was a Blues man and they were one of the other clubs other than Rich and Collingwood and he picked us.

Both clubs have been into Tom for two years. Started when Balme was at Collingwood but I would say Richmond have to be ahead of everyone else. Lynch's best mate is Prestia and not O'Meara.

Look if he picked Collingwood and said he chose us because the youth on our list and the talent are very exciting... I am not gonna lie... I will laugh so hard but that will be in part 2. Part 1 is them choking in the prelim.

I keep thinking back to the following:

- Goldy helping Lynch out in an interview last year regarding him staying at GC

- the talk that offered GC a trade offer last year for Lynch which they politely turned down

- Buckley’s response to Lynch after talk of the AFL getting involved and offering an ambassador payment

If it’s true that he made his decision a while ago, what have we heard that Richmond have done last year/early this year?

Also, could it be Balmey taking away our intel and using it against us?

The only relevance I see is one would assume we would be his first port of call.
As I suggested elsewhere, if he was to choose another club it would be based on $$.
Richmond posters are kidding themselves he's choosing them over us and taking less $$.
If the recent gossip of them offering $1.4m is true - they can have him IMO.

IMO, the talk of once being a supporter of the club is a sign of age/ maturity levels. The most important career decision of an individuals life will never be influenced by a passion he probably hasn’t held for 10 years. Every kid that knows they’re going to be drafted sets that stuff aside as soon as they come to that realisation. If they don’t their manager coaches it out of them.

On a personal note 18yo Scodog10 would have crawled over hot coals to work at Collingwood. Present day Scodog10 can identify about 3-4 roles that are worthwhile career moves and has an extremely low interest in clubland based on discussion with people in the industry. Once you hit a certain point of your career you always take the offer that best suits and Lynch will in this case just like anyone on here that is interested in achieving career/ life goals.

If I were looking to identify key factors I’d say the big 3 are club culture, the HP regime and the playing group. He’s going to be handsomely rewarded at any club, both clubs are in the same precinct, both are contenders and both offer big games at the G in front of huge crowds. I can’t speak on club culture or the fit with the playing group, but what I can say is that if I’d just had surgery on a PCL and wanted to be in an environment where my body would be sound as possible for as long as possible I would choose Richmond ahead of Collingwood.

For the record, despite my posts, I've stated many times I actually prefer we don't get Tom Lynch.

For what we'd have to cough up to get him, I don't believe he'd personally be worth it to us. I'd prefer Mitch McGovern myself. I'm just saying that based on what Bucks said, combined with what I've been told by a friend of Tom's family that work with, I'm guessing he's going to nominate us.

Interesting that both Adams and Treloar were your examples.

I say interesting because one point of difference both those players have that got them over the line at Collingwood is that they both genuinely loved Bucks from their days being coached by him at AIS. It's the same reason we were into Devon Smith.

I don't believe the club you support as a kid is completely irrelevant, but I think context is important and how the Club "sells" you.

Collingwood in 2018 are clearly demonstrating that they're finally on the right path and at least on the surface appear to be on track for a potential flag sometime in the near future. If the money differential between us and Richmond isn't huge, you don't think he and his father being fanatical Collingwood supporters would play some kind of role in being the difference between us and Richmond all other things being equal?

You don't think meeting with his most likely childhood idol Nathan Buckley who sells him on living his childhood dream of winning a flag for Collingwood would sway him at all?

Because given how much we all go on about how unique our game is, how traditional it is and how much more emotionally driven our sport is than others, I'd be disappointed if that was the case.

I think him being a Collingwood supporter given where Collingwood is right now as a club will hold more weight that you're willing to give it credit for.

If anybody wants to rewatch it.
It’s funny how we interpret things differently. I took he’s most likely Richmond bound, which doesn’t worry me. However I also took Moore is almost exit bound too, which if none of them are on our list next year it’s been a monumental **** up

And that we passed on Scache and Watts and made a point of improving our salary cap and that we enquired about Lynch all suggest we thought we were in the race (or thought we were) at the start of the year. This all seems to be planning around getting Lynch at the end of this year... IF Lynch did commit at the start of the year to Richmond it would explain why we have been subsequently linked the Adelaide Lynch, McGovern and May since then as we now have left over salary cap space.

It is all ultimately just speculation. I just cannot bare to think about how smug Tiger's supporters will be if they get him. Even worse, if they win the flag and get him

Extremely confident in landing him now. Always have been, however after listening to bucks last night, he would never usually say that stuff or give that away if he wasn’t almost certain that it’s a done deal. Just the way he and the club operate.
Fingers crossed.

Good thought out post & some valid points.
The only whack I’ll give you is speaking in the 3rd person. ;)
