It’s like Venner’s has forgotten how to football and is bogged down by team instructions and adhering to a specific role ..

This happened to Duggan too. He has time on his side. MC seem to create certain leeway for those they see high potential in. If the W column keeps ticking along I suspect he will continue getting games. If the losses pile up the MC's hand could be forced.

Still don't see the argument for SPP.

Jarrod Berry on the other hand...

I remember thinking that Jarrod Berry was the sort of "HBF with midfield potential" that we always ended up taking. I was pretty damn wrong in that regard - fortunately he's playing for Brisbane, and not some team that was already at the top.

I still stand reckon we should've taken SPP though.

In fact, didn't Geelong trade up to jump in front of us so they could take him?

They did they traded pick 14 and 35 to Adelaide to jump ahead of us ( Adelaide took Jake Lever at 14 and Harrison Wigg at 35 ).

The 2014 AFL Draft was one of the worst drafts in that decade.

Round 1.

1. Paddy McCartin :hospital: :hospital: :hospital:
2. Christian Petracca :hospital:
3. Angus Brayshaw :hospital:
4. Jarrad Pickett - :hospital::frenchfries::pizza::shortcake::frenchfries:now delisted
5. Jordan De Goey :star::star:
6. Caleb Marchbank :hospital:
7. Paul Ahern :hospital:
8. Peter Wright
9. Darcy Moore
10. Nakia Cocatoo :hospital::hospital::hospital:
11. Liam Duggan :whitecheck: :trophy:
12. Corey Ellis
13. Lachie Weller :whitecheck:
14. Jake Lever :hospital:
15. Jarrod Garlett - now delisted
16. Sam Durdin :hospital:
17. Kyle Langford
18. Issac Heeney :star::star:
19. Blake Boekhorst - now delisted
20. Jayden Laverde
21. Hugh Goddard :hospital:

In hindsight I think we did pretty well with Duggan.

De Goey and Heeney are out and out stars but we never had a chance to get either of them.

Other wise the 2014 AFL draft has an abundance of players that have been injury riddled, under achievers and busts..... that folks is a dud draft by any measure.

In terms of a strike rate of success, that is almost 2007 levels of disappointment.

Yes cold weather and bad hammies dont agree . They would want the earth for him tho.

They can want all they like but if he has more issues this year and they don't offer him a contract they may be lucky and get a 3rd rounder at best.......with a 4th coming back.

He's an NT boy and cold miserable Geelong isn't the best location for repeat rehab with hamstring problems.

I'd give Darcy Moore both a Star and a hospital

Berry is a dead set gun. Love how he plays. Reminds me of Yeo.

Yep a few us wanted him - Pure big bodied mid.

We've had our chances over the years to pick these types up but always go for players like Ainsworth instead..

Just draft pure mids Westcoast!

And we also got a more consistent player than most of this lot with Jackson Nelson at pick 51.

Pretty good result from a terrible draft.
