Put any bench of the top 10 West teams right now and they would have a .500 record. That conference is pretty embarrassing right now. It is a battle between Indiana and Miami. They should ban all East players except for Miami and Indiana from the all-star game.

For the amount of touches he gets (leading the league in usage percentage by a street), he should be scoring more than he is. A guy his size shooting .460 from the field (.449 career) on 18 shots per game is unacceptable IMO.

Still needs to cut down on the fouls and turnovers, and loose some weight too IMO. The Kings need him to be playing 34-36 minutes per night, but because of his foul rate and conditioning, he's always hovered around the 30 mpg mark.

If he could hit just one more field goal (or take one less bad shot) and one more free throw per game, and commit one less foul and one less turnover per game, he'd possibly be the best player in the league statistically. Even with his inefficiencies, he's top ten in PER, so once he works out those kinks (he's still only 23 years old), he's going to be an absolute monster.

You say that as though Yao wasn't genuinely the a top 2-3 centre in the league for the duration of his NBA career. When you actually examine his output compared to others between 2002-2011 (remembering as well that he played 5 games total in his last two NBA seasons), he's severely underrated by many IMO.

Watching the kings today I was a little more optimistic on the future than I may have been before. Cousins, mclemore, Williams, Vasquez and Thompson is a nice looking lineup going forward

sorry you totally misread and misunderstood the premise of my post. i never said he wasnt a top 2 centre. actually it does cum across that way. anyway, that wasnt my intention.

Because their home games generally start late, I've had the chance to watch the Kings a few times this season. My honest opinion is that Cousins has really improved both his shot selection and his M.O. in the half court.

He's posting up, back-to-the-basket a LOT more compared to when I've seen him in previous seasons. I don't think Sacramento's problem this season has been Cousins at all - it's been the lack of help he receives. The defense collapses on him when he gets it going, but the Kings' outside shooting has been abysmal, which means he's carried a really heavy load.

Surround him with more talent and I think he'd just about be unstoppable. FWIW Kings' fans were really divided over his contract extension, but he seems to be winning a lot of them over thus far. His defensive numbers have improved dramatically, which would probably surprise a lot of people.
