Wellingham is all about attitude and as pointed out in earlier posts, he is aware of it.
Take three views of him that epitomises to me where he is at.
1. Vanity Fair - he is forever seen in the social pages and is suffering from the Category C (English football is littered with these sorts). Dig a little deeper and you find a similarity with the beautiful set and the Collingwood midfield of 3 years ago. He was surrounded by real talent and he was effective but well behind Pendles, Swan, Steele, etc. That said, dressed in nice clothes with talent draped on your arm, you get taken with the value of pick 18.
2. Vanity Fair - he doesn't seem to put in when challenged. Simpson sticks him back at the East Perth Eagles and he doesn't put in as he thinks it is below him. He thinks he will be selected back in the main team yet his room temperature IQ hasn't switched on to the fact that form and effort are the foundations to higher planes.
3. Vanity Fair - he gels the hair and wears the clown coloured boots and is starting to believe in his role as the clown. If you want to look like a clown, then you need to back it up with some excellent performances or you will soon be relegated to the role as filling in at the circus between the main acts.
I was keen when we got him but have been under-whelmed with him in the past 2 years. Simpson has him on the radar and the trampoline king is playing for a contract in 2015. I do not think he has the brains or the balls to realise his misdoings and rectify. I hope I am proven wrong.
