This week our board will be inundated with thread after thread of melts and faux analysis, so I figured I'd jump the gun and get in first, before the true crud fills the first page. Enjoy, and prepare to have your minds blown away with some hard hitting analysis and fact.
Since the 2015 GF we've been privy to form on either side of the mediocre line we as WC supporters have become accustomed to. It's the same old story, we blow teams away at home with our paid off umpires and our 'sellout' crowds, but as soon as the ground is 1/8th of an inch wider, we collapse faster than Jack Darling in a genuine 1:1 contest.
But what's the cause? Coaching? Maybe. Personnel? Probably. But wait! There is a true demon within the ranks. A root cause that is setting the boys up to implode the second they jet out of that sweet tasting WA air... The beloved Royal away jumper! *Gasps!*
Yes my fellow one eyed supporters, our beloved royal jumper is the true crux of the clubs failings, and the stats back this outrageous claim up!
Including the 2015 Grand Final, West Coast has played a total of 34 games since this curse began. A split of 16 home games (14 in Navy, 2 in Peril) and 18 games away (12 in Royal, 6 in White/Peril).
The results my friends are damning. In our last 12 outings in our BEAUTIFUL and ADORED royal jumper, we've come up trumps in just 4 games. 4! I shit you not, I was genuinely appalled by this stat. This contrasts with a staggering 13 wins on our home deck in navy, from 14 outings. Ouch. The truth really hurts, doesn't it?
We can't end this curse, so we may as well retire the royal jumper, and wear peril where ever applicable. Be gone, royal curse!
