We should be interviewing the 3 short listed rookies, bomber and Williams - naive not to compare what the experience guys bring to the table
In the event we come to terms with bomber we can pay his $30k fine as a sign on fee.

I cannot and will not support the club if they would elect to pay Thompson's fine.

It's not going to happen, but it makes my blood boil thinking about it

I hope to god they have approached mark Williams, our last 3 coaches have been rhode, eade and McCartney. Fail pass fail. Seriously we need a coach with experience these kids need an established coach who can train and educate who has been there as a player and coach.
Someone who's in the media build a team around T.Boyd, the kids who will respect the coach, the coach who can bring back the passion and flair to climb up the ladder bring in sponsors and members. The western Bulldogs can not afford a dip in membership or be piss poor for another 2 or 3 years because we would lose champions. Look what eade did got the best out of kids when we were pathetic during Rhodes tenure he got the best out of the list brought in members, sponsors and excitement this time the kids are better please in the name of good dont f@@@ up

Mark Williams is the man

Well....to give the club some credit, they have kept the leaks on this to a minimum. You could argue that they should be more transparent with the supporters but I think that could jeopardise the process.

I think it's a feather in the cap that the media have actually no idea who we are really even looking at. Frustrating for us of course because neither do we!

Its interesting that after Bombers ill timed and ill fated power grab during Essendons b&f, where he professed his desperation to continue as a senior coach. He chose to take a two week overseas holiday instead of applying for either of the two vacant jobs on offer, and to the best of my knowledge he's rarely if at all been sighted since.

As great a coach as Bomber has been, he is not the person we want to be heading our club at this moment in time. I can assure you that everything and more that you think has been going on, has been going on. The guy is a train wreck waiting to happen.

Once again, I will be absolutely astounded if he is being sounded out for, let alone chosen as our next coach.

I agree - steer well clear of the impending Bomber disaster.

I really like bomber but no doubt he has ISSUES to resolve. Its not the BnF comments, I think the media have twisted that out of recognition. Watching him all year on 360, it is clear he loves coaching and it maybe the one thing he desperately needs to stay sane but I agree he comes across a little deranged.

But we absolutely must talk with Williams. He has taken his medicine and I believe remains a class act. He is way too good to be languishing as an assistant at Richmond. Our greatest risk is that the quality of players we have assembled become dissatisfied and disillusioned. Make no mistake Stringer, Macrae , bontempelli, dalhaus will be
In everyone's sights. Williams would immediately breed optimism. His history at GWS and Richmond is testament to his ability to excite and improve young talent. This buys the recruiters time to keep building and strengthening the list. We are two thirds there now.

Alternatively, we can take a risk on a quality rooky who maybe the next clarkson, Neeld, or something in betwen ie McKenna. The beauty of Williams is that we know he is not Neeld and we know the club will get an immediate fillip in members, sponsors and media support. He brings with him an energy and enthusiasm we sorely need.

From the Sumich article:
He was among just three final candidates for the Dogs appointment along with current assistant Brett Montgomery and highly-regarded Hawthorn two-time premiership defensive coach Luke Beveridge.

Beveridge, 44, is now considered the distinct front-runner to win the Dogs appointment with Montgomery believed to have been assured of a senior assistant’s position if he is overlooked for the top job.
