Wow, sounds like Beveridge is a done deal. Wonder how Monty will go with that.
From the article in Dannnns post a few posts up

"Beveridge, 44, is now considered the distinct front-runner to win the Dogs appointment with Montgomery believed to have been assured of a senior assistant’s position if he is overlooked for the top job."

As each day passes it just shows what a terrible move "sacking" Macca this year was.[/QUOTE]

The terrible move was not being thorough enough in the review in the first place and removing him earlier. Also giving him a 2 year extension, poor decisions even from a governance perspective

What's done is done
I am inclined to think the sacking was done very reluctantly

I am more concerned that Monty has been promised the senior assistant role if he doesn't get the main gig

Beverage or whoever with his main rival as assistant is not ideal
When that assistant has seen off two other senior coaches it would be positively toxic

Im inclined to believe Sumich found out or got told he was not going to be appointed. Candidates always drop out for various reasons in order to either maintain the virgin 'never rejected' status or keep the amount of times you have been plowed to a minimum.

Also Monty being promised a senior role is ludicrous, the appointed coach should have 100% say in who he wants and doesnt.

Don't think Beveridge will be happy with that. He'll be out of a job within 3 years with a knife in his back courtesy of Monty.

I'm really hoping for Beveridge to be appointed. I'm a fan, and the apparent alternative would be a disaster. He should have the right to choose his own assistants too.

Agree the problem was not reviewing properly in the first instance. It shouldn't have taken our Captain walking out for the club to ask players what they thought of the coach. And even then, the way in which the players were canvassed sounds amateurish. Stringer was 10 minutes away so he just popped in for a chat?? Amateur hour.

The decision to move McCartney on sounds like the right one if the players were off him, but the work the club did to get to that point was poor.

Just go through the process of Monty "knifing" people, please. Real evidence, not opinion. "Macca's gone, Monty's still there and in the running for the top job" is not evidence.

(In my last job I was promoted when my immediate boss was fired. No knifing happened)
