Whatever grip BMac had on this playing group, he's loosing it.
GWS game showed how much some of them care. Players now voting with their feet.

VFL flag was great, but we've already lost 4 players from that game, including the FF and BOG. Maybe more to come.

Got no problem with a 'long game', but wtf is BMac actually building at the moment?
All the highly rated ones are re-signing, a couple of fringe players wanting to leave.

How is this losing a grip on the playing group?

Agree fully at this stage Igloo. Personally stated in the trade thread 8 weeks ago wanted to trade Jones, Higgins to North interesting from a North perspective and Tutt probably as well, fumbles way to much for someone in the system as long.

In saying that I thought we should have cleaned these guys out a couple of years ago. Add Grant to this list so maybe we are working through the middle of the list now after shoring up the top enders

Agree with you igloo. But losing jones for glory be all hurts, can't escape that.
Yep.. Not much you can do for a player who refuses to sign a new contract who then opts to take his chances with the draft... Remember, if Carlton want him they have to give something for him. Otherwise he nominates for the draft and can get picked up by any team with a lower pick...

I am so pleased all you FB posters are so happy, I just hope the club has something up it's sleave, we cannot attract players to club. Would Macca be the reason?????
Seniors players upset, how would you like to be sitting in front of a bloke, if you have played 200 AFL games, and this bloke who could not get a game at NHILL seconds, starts telling you, what's wrong with you. Does not make a lot of sense to me.
The way he handled MACARE, just bloody terrible, great kid, hope he doesn't destroy him and our other good kids. Big worry this bloke will not develop our kids the right way.
The bullshit he constantly goes own about, we are teaching and developing, he has got a lot of WESTERN BULLDOG People thinking, we are the only team that teach and develop.
this is just MORE RUBBISH we are being fed. STRANGE, I think most clubs are doing it better than us.
Funny this is his big claim, that's his strengths, where are we going.
This bloke is a disaster, I cannot see us finishing better than 16, next season.
He has to be sacked to limit the damage. NOW,

Not much except look at the reasons why he wants to go.
Just another example of refusing to believe anything could be wrong even though its right in our faces.

In reference to Higgins, you're right. Not a fringe player. But also not an essential cog going forward by any means.
Dispute that too. Both were required. The Club has said that.
Neither should be fringe, one definitely isn't.
If jones was on another list we'd be after him, we were after Casboult who has shown less.

I wanted to keep Jones too. But he was a fringe player, who's career could still go either way. I'm less miffed about Higgins, despite being a fan of his. I don't think that loss will be too great.

Regardless, we've done very well re-signing our players. "Losing the playing group" is extremely melodramatic in contrast to what has actually happened.

I think this was misinterpreted, was actually "losing the praying group", as in we intend to lose the players who we have spent years praying that they will fulfill their promise...

Re-signing Wood for 1 year to get him to free agency ain't as good as it looks.
Who else needed to re-sign now? Boyd and who?
The playing group may still be lost.
