Why wouldn't they play games at the brand new soccer facility in Ballarat?
Unfortunately not big enough yet, it presently has room for about 8,000 (most of which would be standing) and the regional soccer facility (while it has first class player and corporate facilities) has no live broadcasting areas, separate areas for coaching staff, or video scoreboard. Mars Stadium on the other hand holds about 12,000 including 5000 covered seats which all offer excellent vantage across a perfectly flat ground (with no domed surface), it has first class broadcasting facilities, separate media and coaches boxes, and a 50 square metre video scoreboard.

It looks like both Hobart and Launceston will be hosting Western United this season,I look forward to seeing some a league for the first time since games were last played here about 3 years ago.It will however depend on the state government forking out 1 million for the two games and also a W league game.

I don't envy Western United - they're at risk of falling between two stools. It's not yet a western suburbs side, while the split between Geelong and Ballarat only narrows the solid base support during the next two seasons. Then there's the little issue of Kardinia Park and Mars Stadium being horrible places to watch rectangular field games...

They released their inaugural membership packages yesterday, which entice you to become a foundation member of the new stadium - assuming they get through to October 2021 unscathed. They've already lost the backing of Trillion Trophy Asia (the mob who own Birmingham City), because a residential land development deal surrounding the stadium fell through.

There's a lot of goodwill being asked of supporters to financially back a nomadic side.

These parasites have just over 1K memberships with only six weeks till the start of the season.

Talk about nobody cares, this club will be worse than Heart. Will be dead within two seasons.
Not surprising. They are playing the first half of the season at Geelong then looks like Ballarat for the next half a season. Both are AFL grounds.

No one from the area they are suppose to represent is going to attend the games and why would the people of Geelong and Ballarat get behind a team that wont be there in a few years.

Zero chance they would have been given a license under the new administration.

Best case scenario will be that they relocate to Geelong which most people think is what will happen.

Signing news: All-time top scorer Berisha joins Western United FC

The Hyundai A-League's all-time top goalscorer, Besart Berisha, has signed for Western United.
It was revealed on the club's official social media channels that the 34-year-old has signed for Mark Rudan's side, returning to Australia after a 13-month tenure in Japan.
The forward joined up with J-League outfit Sanfrecce Hiroshima in July last year, a month after winning the 2018 Grand Final with Melbourne Victory, his fourth Hyundai A-League Championship.
But after struggling for match minutes in Hiroshima, Berisha is back in Australia, where he will don the colours of Victory's new cross-town rivals Western United in their inaugural season.

Berisha became a naturalised Australian citizen last December, meaning he will not occupy the fifth and final VISA allocation on United's inaugural roster.
The club's international signings so far are Alessandro Diamanti, Panagiotis Kone, Filip Kurto and Dario Jertec.
More importantly, the veteran forward should add an unparalleled experience and mentality to the new United squad, who play their first game against Wellington Phoenix on October 13.
Berisha scored 116 goals across seven thrilling seasons for Brisbane Roar (three) and Victory (four), winning the Championship twice with each club.

Well s**t not sure it suits him playing in front five people, But Good luck to him! Just don't score against us!

Didn't they go against the popular vote of Western Athletic for the name of the team though? Not sure they'd bat an eyelid at this.
