If 5,000 plus go through there and spend on average $20 each the club should make around $20-30k profit per game.
That is probably more than we made at AAMI.

EDIT: More than from the club?

It's just like the SACA with their stickers for Test Matches that "hold" your seat for the first session to allow you to walk around etc.
That's actually a good idea to implement maybe. When people see a blanket or cushions saving seats it can annoy them, but if there's an "official" card than i see no problem. It's never bothered me before for the cricket and everyone abides by it

I still can't get my head around the fact that people still think they can reserve seats, for hours on end as well, when they haven't paid for a reserved seat.
They may not have paid $'s for them but they have paid with their time. I have a mate who comes to the footy with his 2 kids. I will be staying with our 4 seats whilst he takes his kids to the Power Playground to keep them amused for an hour or so.

Have told the kids that they will not be getting anything from inside the stadium! Tea and drinks at the GDV on the way into the ground.

That's different to turning up and doing what the other bloke said he does. And what you/your friends do is fair enough. If someone said to me my mates just taken the kids to the kids zone for a bit they'll be back, fair enough.

I don't have an issue with it... They've gotten there early enough to do it.

It's just like the SACA with their stickers for Test Matches that "hold" your seat for the first session to allow you to walk around etc.

If it's that much of an issue, get a reserved seat on the other side of the ground like I did and you can roll up right on the first bounce ??
It just leaves me dumbfounded that people think it's acceptable behavior when they could be putting other people at a disadvantage.
Since when did this self centered culture of entitlement creep into Port Adelaide?

What if youre on your own and nobody to hold your seat when you go to the toilet? I get your point but you have no idea how long someone is going to take.
The chances of losing your seat while the games on when you go to the toilet is slim. You could always ask the people next to you if they could hold your seat for you while you go to the toilet. Besides the issue wasn't one person going off to the toilet, the issue was a big group of people turning up with an attitude of entitlement long before the game has started thinking they can reserve a large amount of seats without consideration for other members.

Dude I don't really care as I sit on the other side of the ground in a reserved seat to avoid this exact situation.

But they've gotten there early enough to claim their seat as after all it is a first in best dressed situation. It's just the way it is. Why should you expect to arrive right on the first bounce and get pole position ??

I hate the situation. Love the fact I have my own reserved seat to come and go when I please.

Hey, if I get there just before the bounce, and I miss out on a good seat, so be it.
But if I turn up with a group of my own, with plenty of time before the first bounce, and the only seats to accommodate all of us are a group of empty seats reserved with cushions, why should my group and I not sit in them?

If some other group wants to reserve seats, why don't THEY pay for reserved seats?

I'm paying for membership, as are some of my mates(others have reserved seats), with the understanding we and others with the same membership don't have reserved seats.
First in best dressed isn't carte blanche to lock up some seats for your self and your group. It's about capacity at the ground. You get there before capacity is reached and you are in.

The sort of people who go around with the belief they are entitled to things are the sort of people who wouldn't show you or I any courtesy or consideration if the roles were reversed. Keep that in mind because the core of this issue is peoples attitudes and behavior.

This is perhaps one of those little things the club needs to address one day if it becomes a problem, or perhaps before it becomes one.

Anyway enough said on the matter. Let's all just turn up and worry about our seats in a few hours time. We've got a game of football to win. :)

My thoughts of the GDV was that it was a great area and will make a hell of a lot of money for the club!!!

BUT, the music was just too loud for the area - pre match people just want to meat their mates and chew the fat about the up coming game... it was just not possible to do that with the music so loud!! Maybe a live cover band may be a better fit??

Also, I quite liked the food - but it just took way too long to order then receive it from the overwhelmed vendors... Maybe bring back the BBQ from last year as an extra option.

As for the FnT pies - why are they $5??? SURELY they could be much cheaper, they are only $3.50 at the G!!!!

Great first up crack though with a huge amount of scope for growth and improvement - WELL DONE to Dave Banner and his crew for getting it up and going!!!

I agree, we went there with the kids - but it was too loud to stand and chat. Music was fine in terms of choice but it felt like it was way too loud. We didn't stay long but it was a good setup and good incentive to get to the ground early

Went before and after the game and I was pretty impressed with it. The beer prices haven't changed from last season witch is great, $5 a pint you can't go wrong really. I agree with you bringing back the BBQ. The food options looked pretty good but before the game the line ups to the food vans were huge, I just got a sausage roll from the four and twenty stand in the end for $4. I think if the BBQ was back it would shorten the lines a little for the food vans.

Didn't get a chance to sample the Gameday Village, but on our way past about 40 mins prior to first bounce it looked pretty full.

Club's onto a winner there. Fancy making money on gamedays?!

Did Dave have any Tsingtao there for the discerning lager lover or did he reserve it for himself ... again ?
