The Shield is inferior to nothing.

Nah, The Shield tries to incorporate too many things... ends up doing a lot of them half arsed. The way all the "bad guys" flip so easily is laughable.

Like I said, it is a good show but is about as realistic as a superhero comic book.

Season 1 is fantastic and all, but season 4 is where it's at.

Yep, Season 4 was incredible... also really enjoyed Season 2 on the docks. Haven't got around to acquiring Season 5 yet.

I bought seasons 1 and 2 when they first came out here. I've bought plenty of dvd's from amazon but if I buy season 3 and 4 from them my shelf will look stupid and I know it's an obsessive compulsive thing but it just annoys me

I know what you mean. I bought the Aussie versions of seasons 1 and 2, too. So I've got those in the plastic cases, and 3 and 4 in the cardboard cases.

Like I said, it is a good show but is about as realistic as a superhero comic book.

This. Especially after that ridiculous car crash that Vic just walks away from at the end of season six. Comic book is right.

Just finished watching Season 1. Outstanding television. Too bad there aren't more shows of this quality on the small screen.

Anyone know where season 2 is available? Local Blockbuster only had season 1.

I'd seen a couple of episodes of The Wire before but didn't get the storylines and everyone I know who'd seen it was both awesome but to watch it from the beginning to get it. I'd been waiting for this sale.

Picked up S1 from JB for $22 yesterday.

They have it at JB down here. I got it at Big W ages ago when they had both seasons on sale.

I've just ordered it online from JB. Given that half of BF has been telling me that it's better than The Shield I'll be watching it with interest.

The Wire is a slower, deeper and more meticulous show than The Shield... incredibly immersive. Depends on if that sort of show style is your cup of tea I suppose.

I'm paying $26 for it. I'm more than willing to give it to the end of the season in order to give it a proper shot.

God I hate people who expect to watch one episode of a show and be immediately hooked.

The other thing worth mentioning regarding The Wire, it changes significantly from season to season, adding layer upon layer.

I expect you'll like the first season, and you'll find it very rewarding if you continue on 2,3,4,5.

The Wire is structured very differently... each season follows the progression of a multiple plot lines. They spend time developing characters and slowly evolving each plot, rather than interlacing episode specific side plots. At some point in the season everything meshes together, bit like a Tom Clancy book. Truly engrossing.

Not directed at anyone in particular. Just directed at people like that in general. Apologies if you thought I was having a go good sir. There's just countless people I'll recommend quality shows too and after one or two episodes they'll declare it shit and never watch it again.

Ok, just finished season 2. The layering of the show is sensational. If anyone starts watching this show I urge you to give it plenty of time.

Got it for $19 plus 6 postage from Ebay. Went to every DVD distributer within a 10KM radius of my place. Nothing!

Im glad Im not the only one that had massive trouble with JB's online services, have used them once and will never again. Totally agree with EzyDVD, craps all over JB's.

OH MY GOD FINALLY!!! I've put off ordering the region 1's for about 2 years because I don't want half of my box sets for The Wire being Aussie and half American.

I've never used JB online but often look at it for price comparison with EzyDVD online. Like you said, EzyDVD online is bloody quality. I usually get it the next day.
