So was the location of this gunfight a coincidence, or is the bloke cast as Marlow really a try hard gangster?

Or is it a little from column A and a little from column B?

I'm 5 episodes into the fifth and final season.

This show is unbelievably good.

I thought the lie detector test given by Bunk in Ep1 of Series 5 was a classic. Is that TRUE TRUE and FALSE...the detector never lies!

David Simon documents this as actually happening on a few occasions during BPD Homicide inquiries.

Same with the 'Talk and you get McDonalds scam'.

He's from Brooklyn, born and raised there, so no it isn't a coincidence that it was in Brooklyn. You realise the show is set in Baltimore right?

Well, it wouldn't be beyond them to cast people who had a criminal background.

The chick who played Snoops was a real-life drug dealer and was convicted for second-degree murder.

Am currently rewatching season 1 and God damn! I forgot how good this show is. I can't wait to get to season 5 and hear Marlo's speech in prison.

MY NAME IS MY NAME!

Can anyone recommend a TV show which comes even close in quality?

Overall, and granted I've only seen up to season 3, Sopranos is overrated imo. Season 1 was amazing but was definitely a let down after all the hype.

Deadwood and Oz are good suggestions. Cheers :thumbsu:

I got into Sopranos after the hype died down, so it wasn't really a factor for me, but the first 3 or 4 seasons of Sopranos is about as good as TV gets.

Oz went really off the wall toward the end, lost a lot of realism imo.

The West Wing, Rome, Band of Brothers, Twin Peaks, The Sopranos and Deadwood. The standouts being Twin Peaks (first season only) and Deadwood. The Wire stands out IMHO.

IMO only the Sopranos and West Wing are on the same level as The Wire.

Yep, and you can add Six Feet Under to that list... another quality HBO drama.

Ohhh Band of Brothers, another good suggestion.

For some reason when I think Twin Peaks, I think of a light hearted comedy.... I don't know why either. Checked imdb and it looks interesting.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I will recommend Mad Men to anyone looking for something to watch. It took me a little while to get into but it's definitely worth it.

Have just got into Madmen, 2 eps in and it's looking the goods. Twin Peaks is pretty old. I go so far to say it's the dawn of the recurring storyline throughout the season in a tv drama series (but will well and truly accept rebuttal). It's also created by David Lynch so be ready for some shit that is 'out there' especially if you go to season 2. Still the show is really brilliant.

Another one I forgot if you wanna see more David Simon is Generation Kill. It's about 7 eps long so it's a long mini series. It's about the first week of the second Iraq war (probably been mentioned on this thread before).

Probably some time in August. :D I believe S5 is going to be on GO!, nine's new channel.

Season 5.... mmmmm found it the one I liked the least. Just could never get into the faking of murders thing with McNulty.
