Season 5.... mmmmm found it the one I liked the least. Just could never get into the faking of murders thing with McNulty.

I love S5 but it is the weakest season IMHO. The problem is the shortened season didn't allow them to set up the plot as well as they had done previously. When you think about it the hamsterdam plot of S3 was pretty unlikely, but it worked.

Yea agree but at the same time it worked beacuse you can see the city is such a dump and no-one in power really gives a stuff, it might, just MIGHT slip through for awhile. Where as they put the Medical Examiner up in lights early in the show as being a genius at picking up little things others missed, yet he can't see these bodies are all fake murders...

But the first ep of S5 was funny with Bunk and the Homicide Sgt putting those teenage murderers through the "lie detector" test...TRUE, TRUE, FALSE :D

The serial killer was a lot more believable than Hamsterdam. So many people knew about Hamsterdam yet none of the bosses found out? Only Jimmy, Bunk and Lester knew about the serial killer.

Having said that, S3 was frickin awesome!

Just to pull you up on this How can Stringer Bell be anyone's favourite character? He's a back-stabbing, weaseling cold-hearted muthaf****. Characters like Omar, Bodie, Herc etc much more interesting and easier to like.

Herc would have to be my least favourite character.

Stringer, Omar, Lester and Bunk are probably my favourites, but there are so many great characters.

Glad you asked :p

I love the way you have this cool, calm economic driven gangster who reads Keynes and does a buiness course at uni and recognises that ego and dead bodies are not good for business. The lectures he gave to the soldiers in the funeral home HQ are some of my favourite in the series. Don't get me wrong, Omar and others are some of the all time greats as well, but to me Stringer is the best of the best and
the scene where he's shot down is one of the most powerful on TV, for me anyways.

Herc and Levy have to be the worst characters going around. Bastards!

Love all the 'Boys of Summer' from season 4, all four of them were built up really well and had cool arcs.

At the end of season 5
when McNulty is driving the hobo back to Baltimore and then stops to have the flash forward/summary thing, I was waiting for it to finish with McNulty saying "What the f*ck did I do"

Re: The Wire ABC2

Interesting ABC has been showing the HBO Tara, now the Wire. Sounds like a much warranted policy shift away from the ever increasingly dull BBC programs

Re: The Wire ABC2

Looking forward to this a lot, although I've only ever watched this show in 4-6 episode chunks.

Watching week to week will be a different experience, less immersive I think.

Be great if ABC2 also started screening West Wing episodes from the beginning, only other TV show that rivals The Wire and Sopranos in terms of quality.

Re: The Wire ABC2

One of my altime favorite shows. Quality in every sense. Direction, acting & screenplay are all top notch. Its a shame it had to end.

yep l really liked the boys from season 4,randy was the best with his lollies
pity what happened to dokie at the end,l never liked herc though the show and levy is a snake

just finished watching season 5 last night l really loved the show as awhole.l was shocked what happened to omar. The fake homeless killer was little strange in the way the show had been played out in the other seasons.but pretty season never to less.l would have liked if marlo was got on the streets where omar wanted him to come down to.

l found this somewhere>>>> To remind folks David Simon has a new project that has been approved by HBO based in New Orleans "post Katrina" the dude who played bunk will be in it
Yep, its called Treme and will be about the reconstruction of New Orleans from the POV of New Orleans street musicians.
