l found this somewhere>>>> To remind folks David Simon has a new project that has been approved by HBO based in New Orleans "post Katrina" the dude who played bunk will be in it
Very nice. With this and Curb coming back, HBO looks like its hitting a return to form.

Check out Generation Kill too. Written by Evan Wright and also Ed Burns and David Simon who wrote THe Wire. James Ransone who plays Ziggy is in it too. Benjamin Busch who played Officer Colicchio is also in a bit part.

Next Tuesday night (Sept 1) on ABC2 at 9:30 it begins... an absolute must for anyone who has not seen this great show.

Problem is, it really is a show for DVD consumption only. Watching one episode doesnt particularly draw you in. But 3 or 4 really do.

Just checking on the abc2 website, I'd say they're showing double eps as the running time is 2 hours. Plus it's being shown on Saturdays as well, though I don't know if that's just a repeat of the Tuesday eps or a continuation.

Either way I can't wait.

that's right:thumbsu: well l found it that way,l didn't get the bug till the end of episode 3 and then l was hooked not long after that.it took a little while to get into cause you get used to the badarss crimes getting caught with in the hour like the CSI's etc.but this show builds the storyline up to something more powerful with substance and with the element of truth. there was areal bubbles and the mayor really wanted to do the armsteaddam thing..

Finished series 5 last week.

Greatest TV show of all-time.

No matter how many times I hear them in interviews, still throws me to hear the likes of Dominic West (McNulty), Idris Elba (Stringer Bell) and Aiden Gillen (Carcetti) with their English and Irish accents.

Never have to watch TV again.

Sheeeeeeeeet....

Finished season 5 last night. Wonderful stuff - and best of all I can now read all the minutiae about the characters and the show that's on the net without fear of spoilers!

Norris a real-life Police Commissioner, drug lords as church deacons, Jay Landsman as someone other than Jay Landsman.... amazing stuff.

Easily the best cop show I have seen...Season 2 on the Dock's wasn't as good as the other ones..But still better than your run of the mill cop shows...

Really? I thought season 2 was really good when I first wacthed the series. I am just starting season 5 with my girlfriend (she is watching it for the 1st time) and I still think season 2 is really good but season 3 is for mine the best.

ABC viewers reaction ....

Subject The Wire

Well "The Wire" was quite something - 46 seconds in we had our first product placement - a brand of Toilet paper was "placed" in the opening scene.
At about 10 mins in people start poking thier guns about and yelling a lot.
That's about as far as I got.

A quick search of the subtitles revealed 134 instances of the word "F*ck" not including 32 instances of the word "motherf*cker". The "F" word was therefore used on average once every 46 seconds.
There were 107 instances of the word "sh!t".
There were 37 instances of the word "ass" not including 7 instances of the word "assh*le"
There were 8 instances of the word "bitch".

I know it came highly recommended by the new American president and all but is this material really suitable for the ABC?

I glad I didn't watch any more

the wire is a great show l cant say enough about the show.. but if people are going to watch for the first time and thinking it will the best from the first ep maybe cause it talked up.but its the kinda show thats starts of slow and then grabs you and sucks you in after.watching all the 5 seasons l now have trouble watching police shows they just don't stack up

The poster is correct though, it is insane how much product placement there is in The Wire and Gen Kill too. Otherwise his comment get a big pppffffttt from me.

HBO doesn't have ad breaks but they're a commercial channel.
