Thought I'd bump this thread after reading through these posts

The moment I was hooked is when McNulty's FBI mate tells him Daniells is dirty, I knew I was in for something special after that moment.

Anyone know how these two became mates? I'd love to see a prequel to portray Cutty as a badass, the relationship between Phelan and McNulty, Daniells running wild in the Eastern District and most importantly see the Barksdale crew take control of West Baltimore.

FWIW Brother Mouzone the Nation of Islam guy was the coolest side character.

Been watching this again over the last few weeks. God I hate Marlo. I thought the actor playing him was terrible as well but I read something about Marlo the other day that makes the minimalist approach make more sense and seem more acceptable

Question for fans- Who you got between the Barksdale crew and Stanfield crew if the police didn't have the wire on Barksdales crew and get Avon back in jail?

I like to think Barksdales win- Marlo seemed more gettable to me in an all out war. Could've been damn interesting as well. Avon win but his sister would probably get got by Marlo first.

Would love to see another season to see where Marlo and some other characters were heading- ended fairly ambigously. Do people think the point of the last season to show the street life is a never ending cycle? Such as Slim Charles becomes Avon, Dookie becomes Bubbles, Mike becomes Omar etc etc?

Imagine if the Barksdale Crew still had their muscle ala: Stinkum, Bird, Wee Bey and Savino.

really loved the wire l did start rewatching season one.just so good,quiet funny l got caught on the wire like a drug.l was watching 4/5 eps some days l needed my reups.
l also got homicide;life on the street liked some early eps but stopped watching for some reason.watched homicide the movie which was not the greatest.yeah oz is good,really like that show aswell.

I watched a few seasons of Homicide. It was ok, but not a patch on The Wire.

If ever a show was a 'poor man's Homicide', that is. All that said, it's not bad.

First season of Deadwood was amusing, nothing on the wire, the second season was absolute trash, completly put me off watching the 3rd

I reckon you are way off. I have every season of both programs and both are exceptional tv. To describe Deadwood as trash is ridiculous.

Having only recently finished Oz, I got the feeling that Oz is probably a more fun and enjoyable show to watch while The Wire is a better show. I'm not sure if that makes sense to anyone tbh...

Makes perfect sense. Extreme example, but Community is way more fun and easy to watch, but nobody who has seen both would say Community is better than The Wire.

Also, Deadwood was awesome. Top 5 drama for me.

The scene with Bunk telling Omar about the way it use to be on that bench.

1/2 way throught the 4th season of Oz atm, its outstanding.

Only show to come close to The Wire imo, thanks to those who recomended it earlier on this thread.

And to those who like Deadwood, what was interesting about season 2???
