Ten teams: Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Punjab, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune,Rajasthan and give Pakistan a token spot.

10 games is what Pakistan & England played in 92, this years finalists will play 9. Australia played 11 in 2007. I'm assuming the format they're planning for 2019 will be full round robin, 11 games to win. Think 10 is around the money

I only looked it up yesterday and found for 2019 World Cup it is 10 nations.
I find it hard to imagine they are doing two groups of 5 with top 4 of each group through to quarter finals so makes me wonder if they simply going to have quarter finals next world cup. They just may have it as 10 teams play each other once and top 4 into semi-finals. Sadly it is a 7 week schedule again so I am not expecting the more condensed tournament I much prefer.

We shouldn't let the associates play.

Makes for boring cricket:rolleyes:
How good was it!?! I watched UAE bat and watching Anwar score his hundred, and to see the delight on his face even when he scored 50, could be the moment of the cup for me. And then the chase! Every time Ireland got on top, UAE would strike back!

Yeah I was pretty happy with that match!

I'd hope it'd be a full round robin (I hope they scrap the 10 team idea altogether!) and go straight into semis

Big call I know, but this may be the dumbest thing ever written on the internet

Yesterday, The United Arab Emirates played Ireland. Far from being a mouth-watering contest, it was the sort of match-up more likely to leave you drowning in a puddle of your own sleep drool.

Agree. Did the writer even watch the match?

No, it's going to be a ten team round robin before semi finals and final.

So 9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1 = 45

3 games longer than this current group format?

Where did you read this by the way? I had a look about 3 days ago and never heard anything specific on format apart from ten teams in it over 46 days.

It's been designed to ensure India play at least nine games. There is only one logical way for that to occur.

Interesting to note that Dave Richardson said the other day that the format is likely to be debated afterwards.

Also saw that Agnew, who, as far as cricket writers go, is probably amongst the most influential, recently wrote that he believed cutting the tournament to ten was a bad idea. And explicitly said that he had changed his mind since 2007.

I was actually asking where you read about specifics of format for 2019 World Cup.
Is there anywhere I can read for myself where it actually says the 2019 World Cup has the 10 teams play a round robin phase in full and then top four into semi-finals ?

Dave Richardson has stated that the intention of the World Cup format will be to make it like the '92 WC, which he called the best format.

That's as close as you're going to get to official confirmation before this WC is over. And given that we know a) they want ten teams, b) they want to guarantee nine games for India and c) they want a format like the '92 WC, the only format that fits is a ten team round robin.
