Hi everyone.

I thought I might write this because it might make me feel a little better. On Friday night my beautiful and darling wife was involved in a terrible car accident on her way back from a charity event.

She was driving with family in the car when another car from the opposite direction flew through the air and landed on her car. She is the only real injury from the accident but it is a serious brain injury. The wonderful staff at the Alfred have taken great care of her and she seems to be not worsening which is what we want at this early stage.

Hold your loved ones tight because even in this world a beautiful 30 year old soul is not safe out there.

My thoughts and best wishes to you and your wife for the best possible outcome from this and hope that you can make it through mate. It must be so difficult - hang in there. Keep going hour to hour, day to day through this as best you can.

Please keep us posted too. Come back here as many times as you need to or want to and tell us how she's doing. We care, and if it helps, post away and we will support you.

Mate I'm so sorry to hear this. You will be in all of our thoughts. If you think there's anything any of us can do, just say the word. Best wishes for the unimaginable time ahead.

Wow that kind of puts the car accident I was involved in earlier in the year into perspective. Lucky for me no one got seriously hurt in the incident, only car and property damage. Could have been an absolute disaster, someone was truly looking after me that morning. Because I wasn't hurt or injured TAC and the income protection mob I'm with aren't interested even though a specialist has declared me medically unfit to drive/work(I operate heavy machinery) for 6 months. I'm in a 'no mans land' situation unable to access any sort of income during this time, pretty tough when you have a family, but were managing ok. I'm just thankful I'm still alive, got my health and can look forward to going back to work in a few months.
I hope she pulls through BL and gets well. I'm sure she is in terrific hands in hospital. They do a fantastic job.
Normally I enjoy and ride the highs and lows of a footy season but this year has basically been a write off for me. All the best.
