What is the worst performance you have ever seen from your team?

For me, it would have to be that dark day in 1992, when the Hawks pummelled us by 160 points. A close second would be the 163 point loss to to Swans in 1987 at the SCG.

The 114 point loss to the Hawks in '87 at Waverley wasn't the greatest either.

And the '83 Grand Final was pathetic too. Come to thinkof it, the Hawks have been bastards to us!

And even though it was only an 11 point loss, our performance against the Cats in Round 22 1998, was one of our worst given what was at stake.

Live or on TV, it doesn't matter.

I was at the "G" in 1992. Stayed to the end. I was talking to windyhill in chat the other day, and he stayed to the end too. He likened the match to watching the aftermath of a car crash. i.e you can't look away.

It's a pretty good analogy by him actually. I couldn't leave... it was just so gruesome that I had to stay and watch! Great stuff!

never actually saw the hawks game you mentioned, dont really want to either, but ill definately agree with you on the swans game,i couldnt believe how bad we were

West Coast vs Collingwood. (me being an ex west coast fan)

Andrew Tranquilli kicks a bag.

Need I say more.

Yes, I do.

Recently there has been a big plunge on Kingsley Hunter for the 2002 Coleman Medal. Don't miss out on big cash.

essendon 2000 final ****test game ive been too

essendon 1999 carey ten and we still lost

the first 3 games in 2001

sydney the second time in 2001 we got 36/37 cant remember they got 1,000,000 or something like that

Rd. 22 this year comes to mind...

Hawthorn should have won, and just for the 'I can't believe we lost to that rabbble' factor that comes with losing to St. Kilda.

I have been to a hypnotist to get over the mid-nineties for us, so I can't remember any losses from that era. :D

The Hitman

All but six games of the 1996 season...

Vs Essendon 2001
Vs Carlton 2001
Vs Collingwood 2001

1995 Elimination Final Vs Geelong

92 Prelim Final Vs Geelong

Round 2 1994 Vs Geelong ( i think, 88 point hiding)

98 Prelim Vs Adelaide

99 Semi Vs Brisbane

Etc etc...

Too many shockers to remember really (its the Swans we're talking about here ok ? :( )

1999 Qualifying Final vs Essendon was a terrible display, Mercuri had a picnic as the Bombers just carved us up big time.

The week before, Round 22 v Hawthorn in the last game at Waverley was also atotal and utter capitulation by Sydney.

One of my worst memories is that early 1994 gamer against St Kilda at the SCG when Lockett shattered Peter Cavens nose, then later in the game he kicked 11 goals as StKilda got up by 5 points after being down by over 40 late in the 3rd quarter.

Just a black day for all Swans fans that one really :(

cheers

True PC, but I will nominate one of them - the standout, the big daddy of slaughters, the pinnacle of perfunctory performance:
Round 2, 1996 vs. North Melbourne at the 'G', we lost by (something like) 133 points. Not the most 'disappointing' loss, but certainly the most insipid and pathetic display I've seen from the tricolours. And I can remember the 70s!

*sniff*I was trying to avoid naming specific games from that season...*sniff*

Agreed :c(

I remember a game for the Hawks against the Kangaroos a few years back where we were done by about 120 points on a Friday night at the MCG. I was starting a new job the next morning (cleaning in a bakery-ahh I miss those undergradute days NOT!) and I thought I'd have a nice night out at the footy before I started. Wasn't such a nice night for Hawks supporters, and had to front up at the new work and cop flak on my first day for the Hawks dismal performance.

There was one game a couple of years ago when we played West Coast over there and got absolutely belted.

It was quite horrific.

The final margin was well over 100 points - we were shocking that day.

1999 Ansett Cup. You know you're doing badly when your first goal is after quarter time, and the crowd starts the mexican wave just after half time. And good old Donald Dickie had shaved a lightning bolt into his hair.

That game actually marked the fall of Nathan Eagleton..a great, promising player up until then...but he played terribly, and hasn't recaptured form since. I still dunno what happened to him in that week.

I remeber Hawthorn caining us in a night game at Waverley. Dunstall kicked 17...

Dunstall actually kicked 14 that night...he kicked 17 against Richmond in 1992. I remember at one stage in the match Hawthorn were 11 goals, Dunstall had kicked 10(!) and the other...Chris Langford from full-back!!!

Rusty Brookes is referring to Round 3, 1994 where North Melbourne beat us 25.23.173 to Hawthorn 6.10.46.

48 shorts to 16, it doesn't get much worse than that. I stayed til the end and was just shattered - I'm pretty sure Nick Holland made his debut that day as well. That's probably the worst - considering we haven't suffered a loss over 100 points since 1970 except for that night!

Didn't help we had lost to Melbourne by 9 goals the week before and lost to Carlton by 87 the week after!!!! :(

Other really bad days include St.Kilda match this year (more for the way we lost it and how important the game was) and Brisbane this year (cause I travelled all the way up there to watch them get thumped). At the time I said they were worse than that North game, but looking back, I don't think so.

GOALden wasn't that the night "the fridge" went beserk and kick goals out of his #$%^????

Mid 1998 we played Collingwood on a Saturday night out at Waverley, i'm pretty sure we lost by 96 points. I don't think i can remember seeing a Hawthorn side play with less spirit and intensity.

The 1994 Round 3 match is burned in my memory. Glen Nugent kicked the first goal of the night... then North kicked about the next 20! We were so Dunstall and Langford reliant, when we did finally get them back in round 5 we smashed the eventual premiers by 70 points in Perth!

Rd 22 match this year was bad, real bad. :(

Round 16 1998...Collingwood 19.10.124 d Hawthorn 4.14.38, what a pathetic effort it was. We lost the next week to the Power then won every game for the rest of the season - but we were woeful that night.

1994 was a strange year, we were bottom after Round 4, then we came good mid season, absolutely thrashed some teams, then scraped into the finals and were unlucky to lose to North.

Thanks Chris, I'd forgotten about that Collingwood match at Waverley. It was the first time my girlfriend had been to the footy. We even had a BBQ in the carpark before the game.

She laughed afterwards noting that myself and Hopalong Tom;) held our heads in our hands the whole night.

Luckily since then she has seen a few good ones, the game against Geelong Round 21 1999, the last game at Waverley and the games against the Pies at the G this year.

Glad I wasn't the only one who experienced the three debacles that you've mentioned.
