Seems we have a new NEAFL debutant:):):)

Deledio to Play in NEAFL

GIANTS forward Brett Deledio is set to take the next step in his return to the AFL, making his GIANTS debut in the NEAFL on Saturday.

The 30-year-old, who joined the GIANTS from Richmond during the 2016 AFL Trade Period, will line up against Sydney University at Blacktown International SportsPark.

GIANTS coach Leon Cameron confirmed Deleido will play while speaking to Mark Robinson and Gerard Whateley on Fox Footy’s AFL 360 on Thursday night.

“We were probably thinking he'd play next week but he's trained really well this week," Cameron said.

"He'll probably play 50 to 60 percent in the NEAFL on the weekend, it's great for Brett and great for the club as we know what he's been through.

"He does need to play footy to get footy fit, it might be a couple of weeks of NEAFL before we look to put bring him into the AFL.

"Touch wood he gets through unscathed this weekend, he needs another game next week and then hopefully he'll be knocking on the door after that."

The GIANTS Reserves play Sydney University at Blacktown International SportsPark on Saturday July 22 at 2.00pm.

They certainly cover all bases when JK is listed on the extended bench for the NEAFL :)

Definitely going to try to get to Blacktown tomorrow to have a squiz. Lids and Cogs (even for just a half) will be worth the price of admission.
I'd love to also but my daughter is shouting me to see Dunkirk tomorrow..
Zero injuries the main goal for us tomorrow, who cares if we win or not

11 listed, plus 9 of this year's draft prospects and 1 from next year. Would be worthwhile to see how guys like Shipley & Powell play with some stronger players around them.

EDIT: Amended the numbers of prospects this/next year.

First quarter thoughts...

We probably don't deserve to be as close as we are. It looks like they've got more players out there, as free as most of them seem to be. First to the ball, two steps in front of the Giants.

Cogs a cut above and been more than handy. HH solid. No other real standouts. Like the look of no. 45 (Gaynor?) who makes Caleb Daniel look like a ruckman.

Umpiring is appalling. If you're in blue and gold you can throw it, get tackled with it, not bother to use the interchange gates. They've received probably 90% of the 50/50s

Also liking Nick Shipley's work.

Still no sign of Lids

Theme for the second quarter seems to be you're allowed to tackle Giants players whether they've got the ball or not.

Thoughts on second quarter:

Much much better and deserve our lead.

HH in great form. Cogs great despite a hard tag

Seriously like the work of the shortest player on the field. No. 45 who I think (according to the team listed above) is Jake Gaynor. Brave, clean, good vision, has set up a couple of goals with pinpoint passes through traffic. Hilarious standing next to Dawson Simpson, didn't even come up to his armpit.

But some of the other numbers above don't match the players out there so I'm not entirely confident.

The game has so far reinforced my liking for Myers, and Shipley has continued to impress me from the game against Vic Metro.

Isaac Cumming has done some really nice things too.
