Felt like they were taking on too much for 6 episodes. They were trying to relive the good old days whilst also trying to start up a new story line.

Just didn't work when looking at it in its entirety.

It also pains me to say it, but that was awful.

In retrospect, they probably should have just made 6 MotW episodes if the myth arc episodes were going to be that shit.

That Tad douche was the worst. Maybe they should have left Reyes in the FBI or some other government agency and made her be the one who drives Mulder and Scully back to the X Files.

Agree on some of the previous posts, seems like they tried to bite off more than they could chew with that finale. Maybe a two hour finale could've expanded on it more, but I'm not sure.

Really enjoyed the revival series, even though the mythology episodes weren't as good as the original series. The monster of the week eps were all great. The highlight no doubt was the were-monster episode, that was a classic.

Lets hope that the stars align and Duchovny, Anderson and co find time their schedules so that hopefully they can make another series or movie maybe. There can't be a cliffhanger, i need to know what happens haha.

Ah well, back to the old episodes to tide me over for the time being [emoji2]

Having had a week or two to digest those last two episodes I can say I won't be watching either of them again in a hurry.

The "Homeland" one was ..well a poor effort at jamming a single season's worth of homeland into a single x-files episode, there was soapboxing, hand-wringing, the introduction of einstein and faux-mulder, politics, and the mushroom trip - that was funny, but it just felt wacky and stupid, I like spooky mulder - but when he's doing things like spray-painting crosses on the highway or buying pictures of UFOs from a diner - the mushroom trip, while entertaining, was ridiculous.

And the last episode, I couldn't keep up with Scully and . . I can't even bring myself to say it. . Einstein . . . and their rapid discussion of the problems DNA, genomes! DNA! genomes! . . and how quickly do they get test results these days?

To me the big thing I liked about the X-files was the efforts the show went to be believable, either the monster of the week stories or the conspiracy stories, but I felt all that got lost in the last episode with the crazy talk show guy Tad O'malley, the mass widespread panic, the improbable car trip through gridlock to where mulder was.. and then the spaceship .. it just lost me.

But I bet I set my alarm for the next series.

Enjoyed this season and defended it when my mates badmouthed it but far out that was an awful finale. I was left hoping they all died, and if a new show with Miller and Einstein is on the cards, I probably won't bother with it.

Highlights for the season were the were-monster (fan of Rhys Darby and Kumail Nanjiani too) and Mulder's trip (silly, didn't really fit but so damn funny)

I liked Tad O'Malley and thought he was necessary and the only good thing of the first and last episodes. A douchey, annoying conspiracy theorist using the internet to "inform" the public...admit it, that sounds like half your facebook friends. In a show like the X Files that group needed to be represented and he hit the nail on the head.

You know that's a really good point, old x-files - no social media, new x-files, it can't be ignored.

I wasn't comfortable though with them splicing footage of events/news/current affairs with Mulder's monologues though, that turned me off a bit. But definitely you can't ignore the presence of social media and they captured that pretty well.

I can only assume when Twin Peaks does their show they will not blow it like the producers of that show just did. Have more confidence it will be done well.
Really was a stinker of an end by X Files. The only was to re-deem from there is for it all to be a joke and it turns out it was just a silly dream and one of main characters wakes up in a new episode and explains how stupid their dream was.

Now we all ask why? And we ask in a very very angry way. Because ep 6 of X Files was one absolute piece of garbage, only for Scully and Mulder and the smoking man was it worth it, and I mean just those characters, what the hell is Einstein and Miller doing in this show, a definite set up for taking the mickey out of the fans of this show.
X Files is not X Files without Duchovny and Anderson , its that simple, it seems maybe to me that the creators are thinking of bringing it back with new lead characters, and bringing it back without any new ideas or imagination, and using Einstein and Miller as the new Scully and Mulder . Well, NO NO NO NO NO!

Not a chance for me , I feel rather like a fool and that the producers have duped me .

If neither of these two actors wanted to recreate this series in a manner of entering the deal fully committed , then why bother.
Money I guess, both these people have found other avenues of acting and probably didn't want to commit to anything , so up comes a smart short little six- piece, to make some big money.
I would like both of them to commit to never appearing in a series again and the producers forget doing any more, and maybe just once more, in one movie all of them answer the poor bloody fans main question.

One last thing from me on this, when are the people in the industry going to grow some brains and find new things in stories etc, because I am fed up with CSI shows and with vampire shows, with politician shows Madam Secratary+, and of course the crap reality shows.

Hope not, 6 episodes a year would be enough for me if it was just Mulder and Scully
Maybe only just 6 but only Mulder and Scully.
There is no X Files without those characters. If that's what the producers think then they are kicking a dead horse.
Miller and Einstein don't work, either they really have run out of ideas or they can't get the actors for long enough.
If that be the case then I say drop the whole thing and don't try to bring it back to become a rubbish second rate version of a former show.
I can remember years ago when the show actually really gave me the creeps and the music spooked me, this last lot especially with the Aussie bloke in it , made me laugh. Disappointing.
