Yeah Trump tried to buy the Bills, was pretty much forced away by the NFL owners, because they know what he's like. He's got a bulldog type of attitude. New in the NFL, he thinks he's top s**t, top dog, and would've started butting heads with the other owners to try to position himself as a jerry jones of the league. Same kind of thing was why the USFL failed when it had a chance to actually grow and succeed. Not to mention suing the NFL would create lifelong enemies.

I wasn't referring to McMahon as a minority owner, but more that instead of McMahon buying the Browns, we should just try to get more minority owners in there.

Other rich people knew Trump was a bullshitting idiot well before he ran for president. Giving him an NFL team would've gone as smoothly as Clive Palmer in the A-League.

Read somewhere that McMahon and Trump are pretty close, McMahon’s wife even works for Trump’s administration. They’d have to be in cahoots on this.

McMahon and NBC lost millions in one year last time this was tried and the standard was rubbish. Just imagine their best game would be far worse than Browns v Jets.

League needs a second tier, but not with these clowns. Hopefully they lose a shitload on this.

It won't get a broadcast deal with NBCUniversal/Comcast, CBS Corporation, 21st Century Fox or The Walt Disney Company. They all show the NFL.

I'll be surprised if they don't go heavy with online streaming through Facebook, twitter etc, along with tying in the XFL rights with the WWE rights potentially on FS1. WWE TV rights are up for renewal the same year the XFL starts, so they will be linked for sure.

Fox are going hard for the TNF package.

I think saw that Fox might go for the WWE only if they lose the UFC contract and they are lowballing the UFC right now.

Who knows if FS1 will even be around in 2 years

WWE and Vince McMahon are all about bullshitting. Last time WWE rights were up for grabs they were talking up multiple bidders and a huge value increase. In truth the only serious bidder was their existing partner NBCUniversal who didn't pay much more at all.

FS1 is Fox. And I think the rumours of WWE moving there are bullshit.
FS1/FS2, FoxNews and Fox are all they will own in a few months after the disney buyout.

FS1 is a moneyhole full of overpaid former ESPN personalties and little live sport. They might not be able to afford the next contracts which is why they are lowballing the UFC.

The WWE stuff seems to be real, but only as a 2nd option if the UFC dont fall for the low offer. WWE need Fox more than Fox need them. but the UFC dont need Fox someone else will be stupid enough to pay the $500M a year they are demanding [possibly a CBS/Showtime/CBSSN or ESPN]

No big network will pay big money for the XFL. but for the right price they will take it. It would be something like a 1 year deal and if its a success then the network will pay more money next time. but most will end up streaming somewhere.

In XFL, “exceptional” players can earn more than $200,000 per season

XFL

The Alliance of American Football will be using base deals worth $250,000 over three years. While it’s not known what the standard rate in the XFL will be, Vince McMahon’s league is suggesting a more significant upside, relatively speaking.

In an email sent to various NFL agents introducing the XFL, Commissioner Oliver Luck writes that “[e]xceptional players can earn more than $200,000 per season.” Luck adds that the length of the contract “may vary from player to player.”

The XFL also will give players an opportunity to sign with NFL teams “upon completion of the XFL season,” and Luck says that the league will be signing “select” players in the coming months.

The XFL also plans to announce the eight cities in which the resurrected league will locate teams later this year.

The AAF will have a one-year head start, launching play in 2019. The XFL returns in 2020. Both leagues will have eight teams, playing 10-game seasons with four teams making it to the playoffs.

XFL sends up first salvo in looming AAF feud

XFL

The XFL is trying to make up for lost time. And throwing shade in the process.

In a Friday email sent to NFL agents, XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck makes the pitch for players who don’t make the cut from 90 to 53 on NFL rosters to consider the XFL, even though the XFL won’t get started until 2020, one year after the Alliance of American Football.

The email opens with Luck explaining that he wants to make agents “aware of a number of issues related to spring football that may inhibit your client’s freedom in choosing to join our league when we launch in 2020.” As to the issue of player contracts, Luck says this: “Competitive leagues appear to be offering multi-year contracts that may have restrictions and or non-compete clauses that could severely limit your client’s’ ability to play for other leagues, including the XFL.”

While Luck doesn’t mention any “competitive leagues” by name, it’s clear that he’s talking about the one that starts playing games in February, the AAF.

Luck also touts the XFL’s marketing and intellectual property arrangements, explaining that the XFL will establish a Group Licensing Agreement for players, and warning that “[o]ther spring leagues may feature restrictive licensing agreements that limit your clients’ likeness rights and distribution; impose restrictions that may inhibit your clients’ licensing rights; and restrict their ability to participate in other licensing agreements, including the XFL GLA.”

Again, that’s clearly a reference to the AAF, which has a one-year head start in every aspect of building and executing a football business. And it makes sense for the XFL to be concerned.

As the land rush for players not wanted by the NFL begins, the AAF will try to get them to commit beyond 2019, making them unavailable to the XFL. The challenge for the XFL will be to get agents to insist on one-year deals with the AAF or, ideally from the XFL’s perspective, no deals at all.

Rumors on XFL & 2K Sports Forming A Partnership To Create A New Video Game
March 15, 2018 Sanjay Thakur 1 Comment

We recently learned that the XFL will be relaunching a new season in early 2020. The XFL was initially started in 2001 by the WWE’s Vince McMahon, but it failed after only one season. With 2K Sports not currently releasing a video game franchise in football, there are rumors going around that the XFL and 2K Sports will be forming a partnership to release an XFL video game franchise.

As most of you may know, the 2K NFL games were Madden’s biggest competition. Unfortunately, 2K stopped releasing new titles several years ago as a result of licensing issues with the NFL. The NFL granted the EA Sports Madden franchise exclusive rights to make the games. Regardless of the NFL licenses, many fans in the gaming community would love more options in the football genre. Whether its a remake of the NCAA football games without official licensing or another league separate from the NFL or NCAA altogether, like the XFL, many fans would appreciate more variety.

A new league such as the XFL would be a prime candidate. Given 2K has the rights to another Vince McMahon owned sports entertainment company, the WWE. It would seem fitting for McMahon to grant all licensing rights to an XFL game to 2K Sports.

So what would an XFL game look like? For those of you who remember what the XFL was really about, you’ll remember how there were much less “rules” involved compared to the NFL. In an effort to produce a more violent style of the game, similar to that of the WWE, the XFL was geared towards less referee involvement, fewer penalties and bigger hits. In theory, it would help the XFL draw bigger audiences and gain new fans.

The newest season of the XFL is set to launch in February or March of 2020 and the XFL season will take place during the NFL’s off-season. This is a very smart move on the part of Vince McMahon. The season will reportedly consist of 10 weeks with approximately 8-10 teams making up the league.

A new video game franchise in football could mean that there will be new options and new features. The teams, for one, would be a clear difference. Other differences could include the ability to create more custom items including players, uniforms, teams, stadiums, player entrances, and more. Who knows, an XFL game might even feature legendary names from the inaugural league such as “He Hate Me,” who was arguably the league’s most popular player, even to this day.

It will be interesting to see if the XFL and 2K Sports will be pushing through with this plan and if they do it will be interesting to see what the game play will look like and what the features of the game will be. Stay tuned for more information
