It is a tradition within my entirely eagles supporting (including 8, 10 and 12 year members) family, that at the start of the year, we predict that this is 'the year of....'.
Which player (outside the obvious top tier in glass, cox and kerr) will flourish and excel?

2009 is the year of mackenzie.
Probably our strongest KP back prospect, who has recently towelled up big Q in the intra club match. Will prosper if given the CHB duties, with hunter and wilkes playing as a third tall/up forward. I reckon he will be the long term replacement for glass at FB, such is my wraps for the kid.

Everyone have a prediction, and at the end of the year, we will revisit the predictions, and have a vote on who it was the year of, and then give whoever predicted that player, a prize.
(which may or may not be a personalized letter of congratulations in lemon chiffron)
Good luck and god speed. Please sticky.

Can't believe you didn't mention your own sponsored player BS:eek::D

Seriously though, Mitch Brown to have a big one:thumbsu:
well after a year lost through injury and the continuing reliance on hansen and lynch up forward, plus the use of mckinley as FF, i don't reckon this year will be the one where mitch brown flourishes in to one of the top 10 or 12 players in the team.
Give him a year to adjust and learn his position, next year will be the year of the brown.

Im going to say the year of .........................Kerr.

He will play 22 games at least, No suspensions, no idiotic night time problems and a Brownlow medal.:thumbsu:

Year of the staker. Intraclub match he was on fire, will play wing and rotating mid. A known running but his inside work looks really strong. Im excited.

Could be the year of the Swift going by the practice match. Bit more speculative though.

Don't know about it being THE YEAR of Mark Nicoski, but he'll be back to his '05 form and proving a lot of his doubters wrong in 2009.

im with beatlesmith. the year of the mackenzie. unlike last season where his pre season was ruined by a knee injury, he has had a massive preseason. looks to be of the right mixture of speed, strength and endurance. with all the talk about brown and masten has quietly raised his stocks. get on this train!

Just out of curiosity, who was "the year of" last year? Im agreeing with BS, emac will surprise a few this year

If I could take two it would be the year of both Staker and Embley. With both these boys up and running we have some great versatility, marking strength and grunt around the ground.

year of the Big Q just shade Masten and priddis.

I think if Q gets CHF he will have a blinder will make a big diffence to the team. he has the tank to run all day and be the target we need when moving from the backline then pump it through the goals.
