Theme Song

We are the boys from Tasmania
We play beside the sea
All for one and one for all
We strive for victory
There’s not a game that we can't win
Together we stand tall
The siren sounds we stand our ground
We’re Devils one and all

Stand and deliver
We’ll fight and not give in
We want it bad so every lad
Will push until we win

Devils show the courage
We rally to the call
We are the boys from Tasmania
In Green and Red and Gold.

Ant music?

Let's trade for Wardlaw so we can play Dance of the Knights by Prokofiev and have that as our traditional music to play as we run out on to the ground:

play Penderecki if the opposition kicks a goal. Imagine this on the loud speakers in an enclosed stadium full of a hushed crowd. Dim the lights. Haunting. They will not want to kick another one :)

I kind of wouldn't mind if our theme song was a variation of this song, but it might be asking players a bit much to sing this after a win.

The Wellerman would make a great footy theme song. Here are some lyrics that could work to the same tune.

"Defend our home, we will never stop
Take the fight on the road, we are on the up
Never giving in, til we reach the top
Go on, devils, go (huh)

Rain, hail, or the Tasmania sun
We play the game, with spirit, as one
Put us on the map, the time has come
Red, Yellow, Green, let's go!!!"

I had the thought that it would be cool if the Tasmania theme song was based off an old Tasmanian tune, so here's something I threw together from a song called "Our Own Tasmanian Home", written in 1919 by J.S. La Mont as an anthem for the island state. I've modified it slightly to better suit the genre, but most of the melody has been maintained.

Lyrics are as follows:

Can you hear the devils?
The island's pride and joy!
There is no other team that,
Tasmania can't destroy.

And when they hear us singing,
It rings on in their ears.
The devil fight we're bringing,
Gives voice to all their fears.

Like teams of old,
Red, green and gold,
We're equal to the test!

For when the final bell has tolled,
We've risen higher -
TAS-MAN-I-A -
Higher than the rest!

We are one, but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We'll share a dream and sing with one voice
"I am, you are, we are Tasmanian”

The motto is ‘I am Tasmanian’. It could already be in the works

The vibe already is tradition rather than novelty

appreciate this wont be popular but id go old school .... use the french national anthem (thought about jerusalem but it just isnt punchy enough)

la marseillaise is great with or without music - and most people get the songs dynamic

[edit] brisbane lions might have an issue with this ..... WTF was i thinking lol .... ill see myself out :drunk:

Woke up this morning, living the dream!
I was in the biggest army Tasmania has ever seen,
We are marching as one,
On the road to the premiership. * yeah Tasmania*

Started out in Tassie, telling our story,
It’s a tough season but we’re not stopping until we achieve glory,
We are marching as one,
On the road to the premiership. the holy grail

We we are Devil beings,
Fending off the opposition like flies,
And those big bags of goals,
Hear the Tassie crowd cry,
And you know what they say, yeah
Nobody will leave anything behind. fight boys fight

But have you heard about the terrific Tasmania?
We ran through millions, and the opposition fearful we played
Yeah, we razed four corners of Australia
For the Tasmania Devils’ flag! snarl

With apologies to Hunters & Collectors.

Need to do what GWS did.

Get a band, get a beat/instrument going, no guitar solos and make the lyrics up from there.

The Giants went with trumpets, which makes sense for them (Giants). Devils make a dreadful noise. So maybe a Ukulele solo ;)

Or, as Tassie's the southernmost point of Australia, perhaps a bass or a cello.
