Bartel Ling G Ablett
S Johnson Playfair/NAblettKingsley
Chapman Ottens Thurley

Foll - King, Moondog, Kelly ,Corey, Woosha, Enright
Int-Tenace, Byrnes, Riccardi

not a bad little blend of youth talent and experience- got a bunch of sub-50 game players who will develop into heroes (playfair, turbo, byrnes, n ablett, thurley, egan)
brisbane continually died in the arse in finals leading up to 01....
so did port leading up to last year
quietly optimistic about this list...i dont reckon we were ready for an assault on the flag this year anyway with the way our boys were looking- would've been poleaxed in the granndy by west coast....
So what i'm trying to say is...it was very disappointing to lose the way we did on Friday night but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater- the next couple of years are going to be VERY exciting with this list. :D

There is 21 reasons why we should be positive

Centre Half Forward is the only down side in the whole team. A pity, but I can't see an instant solution on our list.

what I find most amazing about this post is that the likes of milburn and kelly can't make the side yet thurley can.

Thats two people who have posted their 2006 GFC side so far, and not one has included Dasher!

I knew he was underrated by the wider AFL community, but I thought our own supporters would know and appreciate him!

let's hope it was an oversight on both accounts. I know its an old saying but he would be the 'first one picked'.

Shocking exclusion!

My team is as follows:

FB Hunt Scarlett Egan

HB Enright Harley Milburn

C Bartel Ling Kelly

HF Kingsley Playfair G.Ablett

FF S.Johnson Ottens P. Chapman

F Kings Mooney Corey

Int N.Ablett Riccardi D.Johnson Rooke

Emer Wojinski Tennace Mackie

Looking at that team. We have so many reasons to be excited for 2006. I found it tough sqeezing players in. If we have a low injury toll, this time next year we will be gearing up for the granny.

that side reads pretty bloody good hey. I remember doing my best team on here at the start of this season - it didn't have egan, nath, dj or rooke but instead the 3 emergencies you listed plus sando. but yeah I think your side is what I would go with at the moment - makes you think we'd have to be pretty close to a premiership side if woj isn't in the best team.

All the above teams look great. Except CHF. We CAN"T win a flag without a new recruit to play CHF. Face facts people. We will say the same thing as we have the last 2 years. How good would we be with a decent forward.

I have to agree with Jack.
CHF is the obvious weak link. Other than that the side looks great.

I'd love H to come good next year and recapture his pre jaw form.
Jury is still out for mine on whether this will happen.

I'd pretty much agree with that 22 except I want Turbo in there. We lack pace and need a speedster in the team. I'd probably take out one of N.Ablett or Kingsley depending on who performs better. Also wouldn't mind Timmy Callan in there as I'm not sure that Woji will make a full recovery and if he does, it will take quite a while, so Fresh will provide some dash out of defence.

Go home.

If you've got nothing nice 2 say, dont say anything at all. I hope ya choke on your words next year! I know Playfair isnt the best CHF at anylevel, but he will only get better.

Hey we can all have opinions fellas, i think we have a great team with a great defence and solid onballers but the most important aspect of the game is to get it thru the two big white posts and Henry just doesn't do enopugh at this stage to give me the feel that he can help us win a flag, i 'll be the first to admit i was wrong if he shows improvement next year but how can u say he has talent on what he has shown so far, has no confidence in his own ability and always put felow teamted under pressure as he make dumb decisions, thats just my opinion but i don't want to get there next year and come up short cause we lacked a decent CHF

della, for the third thread in three days, I ask, no, demand: GIVE US A SOLUTION IF YOU DON'T LIKE H.
Not just 'recruit Tarrant', but right through the process, what we have to give up to find a replacement.
You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but it's also incumbent on you, when your opinion is so strong and pointed, to provide an alternative solution.

I think we need to persist with H at CHF... he's played less than 50 games and should develop into the role that is the most difficult to play on the ground once he gets some more experience playing the position. I remember some of our hero players like Ling and Corey when they were around the 20-30 game mark in their respective areas and they had questionable decision making and execution issues- but the club persisted with them and let them develop naturally into the leaders they are on the field now. CHF is the toughest position on the field and it will take time for a young KPP like H to develop into it, but he, and the club will be better for it in the long run!

I'd like to see us put Mooney down ther abit more next especially if King stands up. young Blake can help out in the ruck but Mooney could be the solution, i know we don't have alot of options but Henry just doesn't cut it, why hasn't longeran or Spencer been given the amount of chances henry has been given.

Ottens is to slow for cHF whilst n.Ablett is still a project in work.

Mooney has the ability to play CHF and i feel is a must next year unless we get a Polak etc

della, thanks for your explaination.
I don't agree with you - I think on the balance Moons is better playing on ball with H at CHF; than Moons at CHF and a different on-ball brigade, but that's just my opinion and I respect your right to yours.
I appreciate your response to my challenge.

I don't see this as a solution. Mooney has had more chances at CHF than Henry, and has never shown that he can be a consistent player there. People look at him, see a big strong bloke and think KPP. He just doesn't play as well when tied down to a position.

But, well done for posting an attainable solution.

GM

PS I think we should just trade Thurley for Jono Brown, and pay him $80k a year. Then we'd win the flag.

It just gets to the stage where you have to laugh. Any thread on this board gets the same response from Jack: Henry is a dud.

It reminds me of itsintheblood, tigerboyz etc. who come out of the woodwork with their hilarious 'Leave him alone. All of you.....' shenanigans at every opportunity.

Keep saying it Jack, you can't lose. If we don't win a flag with Henry at CHF, you're right. Well done, you're great. Awesome. Rad. So insightful. If we do, then nobody will care about what you said anyway, we'll be too busy celebrating.

G_Money,

You have a very good point and i am sure we are not the only ones that are fed up with Jack's ********. We all come to this board because we love the cats and usually want to talk positively about them, however Jack in all his wisdom turns every bloody thread into a Henry bashing thread.

Seriously Jack, give it up. Everyone understands that you don't approve of H playing CHF, but give up and stop wrecking all our topics because it is steadily becoming very annoying. You're not winning any friends. People are just disliking you more and more which is understandable. Maybe you like this?

Whilst you occasionally have some good threads, most of you threads are utter crap. Grow up and either produce some more informative and productive posts or ******** off to another board.

For the record. How many senior AFL clubs have you coached? How many games did they win? What team was it? Did they have a gun playing at CHF and he individiually brought the premiership to your club?. If the answer is yes to any of the questions or have a truthful answer then you are qualified to provide more comments. If not, keep the Henry bashing to yourself.

Football is a team game. Even with a J.Brown and CHF, there is no garantee we would have had won a flag in the past 2 seasons. It would help, but H is doing his best. Sure, he makes the occasional mistake, but as the majority on Bigfooty.com keep pointing out to you. He is developing his game. Shut up! We dont wanna hear it!

We were always in trouble on sat nite due to the forard line, when u look up and see Kingsley, henry and gardiner it doesn't really get me excited, its a very hard thing for us as we are very close at the moment but in both finals we have lost in recent years its our inability to kick goals that hurts us

I don't like bagging players trust me but i just get annoyed at some of the players and the way they go about there football, i have and never will question big Henrys courage of effort but how does a player keep making bad decions and is such a lousy kick, just very annoying to watch.

anyway why wasnt Byrnes picked on the weekend instead of D.Johnson, Byrnes is a younger version of Riccard in that he comes of the bench and provides a spark, massive blew i feel and Chambers could of played also rleieving King to rest in the square to stretch the Swans defence as well

easy said afterwards but thats how i would of gone about

its going to be a long 12mnths as next years home and away season means nothing to me unless we can perform when it counts
