We were always in trouble on sat nite due to the forard line, when u look up and see Kingsley, henry and gardiner it doesn't really get me excited, its a very hard thing for us as we are very close at the moment but in both finals we have lost in recent years its our inability to kick goals that hurts us

I don't like bagging players trust me but i just get annoyed at some of the players and the way they go about there football, i have and never will question big Henrys courage of effort but how does a player keep making bad decions and is such a lousy kick, just very annoying to watch.

anyway why wasnt Byrnes picked on the weekend instead of D.Johnson, Byrnes is a younger version of Riccard in that he comes of the bench and provides a spark, massive blew i feel and Chambers could of played also rleieving King to rest in the square to stretch the Swans defence as well

easy said afterwards but thats how i would of gone about

its going to be a long 12mnths as next years home and away season means nothing to me unless we can perform when it counts
della - WHY BOTHER ??? JUST DON'T WATCH - NOBODY'S GOT A GUN TO YOUR HEAD !

leading up to the game I was (and I think the majority of us were) comfortable with chambers not playing so I/we can't turn around and bag the match committee for their decision now. hindsight is a wonderful thing della. they and we weren't to know that kingy wouldn't play the last half. if kingy didn't sit out that last half we would have won the game. I don't think there would be too many swans supporters that would dispute that.

I can't understand where you are coming with the byrnes call. I rate him but his form did wane as the season progressed. the conditions wouldn't of suited him in any case. and besides, dj's game was superb imo.

I have absolutely no qualifications what so ever to comment on football. But neither does 98% of this board, so thats no reason to stop. There has only been 40 odd premiership coaches in the history of the game, it's safe to suggest I am not among them. I will not stop mentioning Henry in my comments while the rest of you guys keep suggesting he is an automatic selection in our team. We are ina situation now that Tom Lonergan has no experience because players have not been selected on performance. Why did Henry get the dream run and not Tom. I love Geelong as much as you guys if not more, it just hurts me to see this guy running around weeek in week out and not performing. I will be there next year and the year after, Henry or no Henry. Opinions are a wonderful thing.

Tom needs a bit more strength. He's had some opportunities but gets too easily bumped off the ball. He's also had a few injuries, which hasn't helped his cause.

Opinions are a wonderful thing Jack. People tire of broken records though.

Spot on.

Jack, as i mentioned. You occassional come up with wondeful insights into the GFC. But stop with the Henry bashing.

Lonners may be good in a year or two, currently there is H (daylight) then lonners.

I'd like to see us put Mooney down ther abit more next especially if King stands up. young Blake can help out in the ruck but Mooney could be the solution, i know we don't have alot of options but Henry just doesn't cut it, why hasn't longeran or Spencer been given the amount of chances henry has been given.

Ottens is to slow for cHF whilst n.Ablett is still a project in work.

Mooney has the ability to play CHF and i feel is a must next year unless we get a Polak etc

Mooney is no good at CHF, he hates the role, robs our mobility and we have enough bad kicking forwards around at the moment.

Trut is we do not have a CHF. H is depending on who you speak to rabble (Arvo Jack) or average/developing. He will never be a great CHF problem is we dont have other options at the moment. Tom L or some of these others may have chances but everyone else will bag them as they will be green as well.

I have a radical thought to put Egan as a CHF I know it robs our back line a bit but he can take contested grabs etc, just need to learnn how to kick after the siren.

This is a great idea and a thought that crossed my mind over the weekend. At the very least, worth a try in some practice games and/or wizard cup.

All I ask is to try something different if plan "a" fails. That hasn't happened. Try Egan, Try Lonergan, Try Spencer. Just don't accept mediocrity and say its the best we have.

Yes i think during the wizard cup a few things will be tried up forward, we all have opinions and i feel i am very knowledgable on the game etc, but the beauty of this game is difference of opinion which is great and is what i do for a living and have done for 4-5 yrs (pro sports punter)

Its the old saying u have to play the game to have a decent opinion, thats rubbish i think there is alot of good opinions on this board alot i agree with some i don't

We all want to see the Cats win a flag as its been to long and at times embarassing in big games (not frid night)

lets hope we achieve the ultimate next year

Egan would be an interesting option, has he played up forward at all in juniors or whatever other teams he played in? He certainly is hard at it and looks like he has a good pair of hands.

I just hope H picks up some of that confidence over the pre-season - prior to that broken jaw he was starting to look much better, and he needs to sort himself out over the next few months.

Matty Egan played for Oak Park for 2 years before joining the cats VFL side. He played mainly between full back and ruck. Very rarely ventured forward. I would probably leave him defence and keep trying to free up Harley to play as the 3rd tall and maybe even a running half back. Which also releases Mooney into a following role. I would be keen to see Nathan play at Centre Half Forward long term. So it would be good to see him play there either in the 1st team or the VFL to try and gain some experience. I think what we have to do is that if CHF is seen as the problem, pick Playfair Lonergan and Ablett and give them all a chance at some stage. But when you drop them to the VFL, play them at CHF not in the backline or in the goal square.
