The main thread in the media section has become an absolute cluster * of whinging fanboys who felt entitled to get very specific things from the movie.
So I decided to come here to express my love and appreciation for this film instead. It has some flaws (and could have used some trimming down) but as an overall experience it was magnificent.
I was at the midnight screening and there must have been half a dozen moments when the audience really got into the movie. I remember the audible gasps in the silence of the cinema when the lightspeed crash sequence happened.
Definitely my favourite Star Wars since Empire.

Watchmen was a great movie. Hard to turn that graphic novel into a movie and keep the same level of detail and stay faithful, but he did a great job with it and I reckon the simplification of the alien plot to blaming Dr Manhattan worked really well. Would have been a bit WTF trying to make that twist work in a two hour film.

Awesome space movie.
Loved pretty much all of it- huge, gaping plot holes. Luke smashing green milk straight from the tit of a 4-breasted alien. Fan favourite characters lazily killed off-screen. Completely underwhelming duels (Kylo/Luke, Finn and the Silver Stormtrooper). Princess Leia's Mary Poppins trick. Laura Dern's purple hair. Anti-gambling propaganda masquerading as plot. Kylo/Rey's force joining awkwardness. PORGS.
9/10 can't wait to see it again!

Just saw it.
Some of it kicked arse. Rey and Kylo v the guards, the Falcon in the crystal cave with the theme from Death Star II, the gambling planet even.
But the fleet sequence was really s**t. It felt like they just delayed all the evacuees getting blown up by 90mins

Every scene with Luke in it was cringe worthy. Terrible acting. All the action scenes were great

If it wasn't for some great acting performances from Adam Driver and Ben Del Toro it would have been unbearable.
Where should i start on this hunk of turd?
Bombers dropping bombs in space despite there being no gravity?
The ship commander trying some comedy was cringeworthy?
Everytime one of the goodies was about to die they would get some new type of power to live?
The corny s**t acting by the asian chick?
Luke Skywalker in every scene showed why this bloke never got another decent acting gig
Those corny money making penguin things that Disney willtry to flog everywhere?
Skywalkers hologram final scene? Wtf?
Poes character in general. Trying to be a comedian/hero

He was on Ren and Stimpy in the 90s so arguably he still hadn't reached the pinnacle of his career until well after Star Wars.

Possibly both. He's very talented as a voice actor because he has all the necessary tools. However, imDb says he voiced "Mr Noggin" in Bellhops / Dog Tags.

Looking at imDb, it's pretty much all he does. I do remember Slipstream and Time Runners though... I used to watch awful scifi movies with my old man when I was young.

Was 186 bad, i loved rogue one as it really captured the feel and look but this was like those dodgy knock off toys you get that is looks like someone copied something without understanding what makes it good.

Certainly wasn't the worst star wars movie. It was enjoyable enough. Don't mind the weird little creatues that chewbacca befriend, they were funny. Some good fighting scenes. I really enjoy the characters of Rey, Kylo, Poe and Finn (but too bad they ran out of ideas for him).
But a little too much jibber jabber and emotional / moralistic commentary. I just want to see interesting characters go on adventures and fight evil with magical powers. Sure they have emotions, but tone it down a bit, it's just star wars.
Also needed to explore some more worlds. That's what I really liked about the force awakens. Here the only world they visit which is more than a random island rock or cave is the casino world, and unfortunately it's borderline pointless in the context of the storyline.
Overall I'd prolly have it as my 6th fav out of the 9 (including rogue) so far.

The first three. As much as I liked Ewan McGregor, I disliked the casting of Anakin just as much. Its not that I hate any of them, I just didn't enjoy them as much.
